Whatever happened to Tidocco2222

Not to be too harsh, but could that \"something\" be that people are being too sensitive? It\'s just a website, with some numbers beside a picture. I would never delete my gallery in a fit of pique and frankly I can\'t understand why others do it. It just seems pointless and juvenile. I thought tidoco seemed so normal, not constantly flying off the handle like some other members... and then this?
I agree completely
All I can say is what I always say... it\'s his loss.
I disagree as much as I agreed before. I\'m not saying that we should baby whiners but I hate to lose a strong member of the community. I do think there is a need for CMON2 that is a little more regimented in the way it handles submissions but wouldn\'t need to be a completely separate entity.

this problem of guest voting needs consideration

While I say it doesn\'t need consideration at all.
CMON is a reflection of the real world.
In the real world Pre-maddona\'s are usually reviled, and they should be here as well.
You can pull this crap in the real world in a real job and it doesn\'t get you very far, in fact it will most likely get you unemployed real fast.
It reminds me nothing more of a child who picks up his toys and goes home, when others don\'t do as he wishes.

While Tim will be missed, the attitude will not.

Different people have different uses for this site. My thinking is that Tim used this site to gauge his painting skill. After 2000 posts he can not rely on us his \"friends\" to give him 100% reliable feedback. Some people would be cold hearted enough to tell him straight off most would not.

And, if you wish to liken this to a workplace: If I came in as a customer walked up to you and said \"you suck\" and never explained why every day you wouldn\'t want to stick around either. Seeing as how you couldn\'t just jump up and deck me your options would be limited. And no matter what you say, you would get frustrated eventually.

It\'s not so much the lowballing of scores that irks most of the people here; it\'s not knowing why. Even if the person could be asked and the answer was \"You are a dick\" then you know it isn\'t your painting skill it\'s just you.

Actually, if that was the most stressful thing that happened at my work place, I would probably be laughing at you, when you walked in.
And while you may think that I\'d get frustrated the simple truth is only two peoples opinions of me or my work truely matter to me: Mine and My Wife.
My friends opinions matter a little.
Anyone else? I could give a rats ass.

But then again I am comfortable enough with who I am not to worry about the small shit.

Anyone who comes here for any length of time knows that these minis can be voted on by anyone, if your ego can\'t handle that, don\'t submit.

WELLLLLL.... Didnt expect that. Sorry to see Tidocco go I really liked his style with metals. maybe i shouldent have pushed him all the time to do a Tute. Now where do I go for great metal advice.

I have to agree with Dave. I\'ve been called alot of things in my life and really its just words. If someone has a low opinion of me thats there problem. Im not around to baby sit fragile egos.

Oh well I will miss you Tidocco.... anyone wnat to step up as the next forum metal expert.

What\'s a Pre Madonna? A female singer pre 1983? Someone born before Mary perhaps?

Well I find this pretty bizarre as well. It always staggers me that people seem to care more about the opinions of idiots who never leave comments than those who they spoke to on an almost daily basis. Tidicco posted frequently in the WIP thread and had nothing but support and admiration for his work. In fact there has been a distinct shift towards metallics because of his work amongst many of those in that thread. He is obviously well liked by those who frequent these forums to the point that his absence was noted so quickly.
Now I don\'t have many figs in my gallery and only one which is much chops really, but I will never care more about snipers than the people who make up the actual CMON community (actually I will never care about snipers, in that respect I side with Evil Dave - who gives a shit).

Ya know what I meant:p
I was typing while working, the term I believe is Prima Donna.
Or to put it another way, egomaniac.

For me his attitude will be a loss, as I found him to be one of the most sensible and helpful people here. Well.. everyone have their spot, and if he felt that way from the scores I think he made a wise choice in the end (even if it was out of rage). Hopefully his miniatures will be on display elsewhere.

As for snipers, sometimes I get annoyed but I try to focus on the comments. I try to vote and comment fairly and hope others do as well. I agree that if you want to be on this site you have to have a thick skin. Especially if you\'re thinking you\'re pretty good at this. Another site will indeed be another site.. and not coolminiornot. But..

Just to add a bit of controversy. I\'m speculating that at least 80% of everyone posting miniatures here do it partly in hope for an egoboost.. :) Even if it\'s ever so small...

I don\'t think cmon is a reflection of the world, as these forums are not a reflection of the real world either. It\'s only a reflection of a small part of the world that might or not might be your reality. When posting miniatures you show your talent, or lack of it, to a bunch of strangers. On which their opinion of it will imidiatelly show. This is not like holding a concert as the crowd generally wants \"to think\" that you perform well. They often clap out of politeness even if it sucks (though you can tell by people leaving the room :p). This is like playing to a secret audience of one person a 100 times where some only shows a number and walks out on you, while others write a message on something you could improve.

@Evil Dave and Ogrebane: I\'m happy for your selfconfidence. But I think being \"over sensitive\" in your world is merely being socially responsive in another. lol j/k

I think you\'ve picked me right, this is the place I come to have my work judged and a part of that is the happy glow from people who share this hobby saying they like something I\'ve done.

Tim\'s a decent chap and he\'s done some wonderful jobs on GF bases. Sorry he pulled his stuff, but bollocks to letting a number on a website get your blood pressure going.

I have enough stress at work without letting the odd cock-head spoil my fun here.

I still like CMON.

Well, sorry Tim is gone. Like his metals and style, plus he\'s a nice guy.

That just leaves us mindless morons and half-witted idiots here!lollollol

I\'m normally hard-line about this stuff, and it annoys me when people get up in arms about it. But this time it\'s a person i get on with so I\'m in a funny position :D

I\'m gutted, simple as that, and it does highlight the fact that quite a few folk do get affected by it.

I\'m sitting on the fence :(

Come back Tim!

What ever happened to Tidocco2222?

He has been replaced by Tidocco3333, a newer and sleeker model. It even comes with a cup-holder. :D

A customer called me an asshole when I worked at the Home Depot, and I enjoyed it emensly. When I took lunch I wrote \"Asshole\" on a piece of tape and stuck it over my name on my apron. For an hour other employees asked me what it was about and I had to explain to them that I was an asshole. When my Asst. manager finally walked into the break room and asked, I told him about the customer, and then reminded him of our store policy - \"the customer is ALWAYS right\".

:D

The first rule of fight cl... errrr... I mean this site is you have to grow some pretty thick skin. I learned that early on, and have accepted my complete lack of talent. Of corse, if I actually had talent, like Tim, then I guess the comments could hurt.

The last time he left it was because of an E-Mail problem. I understand Rev had a similar problem, but is now getting along with his gay lover famously. ;)

Unless he wanted 9+ for everything.???
I guess this is why I am puzzled. \"It\'s his loss\" may have been a harsh thing to say, because it\'s too bad he chose to leave, but it IS more his loss than ours. At any rate, the harsh words left behind in his forum profile puzzle me. No kind words for those of us who liked his work, only scorn for those who apparently did not.

Well, the older I get the more I realize it is almost impossible to be \'hard-lined\' on anything. I am becoming more and more of a fence sitter, and it isn\'t necessarily a bad thing.

Tim has had some issues in the past with this sort of thing, and I can understand it a bit. It IS hard to do you best on a piece only to have it roundly ignored or unmercilessly voted on. But them\'s the ground rules here, and I suppose if you post you gotta live with it.

I know when I post a mini I do so because I want to \'show off\' a little to my on-line friends. Its fun to share what you have done, and hopefully get some comments about it.

I agree with Avelorn, I probably post for a bit of an Ego boost, but I keep waiting, and it isn\'t happening...
