Whatever happened to Tidocco2222

Sorry, if he\'d have pulled his pics and stayed on the forums I wouldn\'t have had a problem with that.
If he disagreed with the voting system fine, don\'t participate.

But, he didn\'t.
He threw a temper tantrum.
In one broad stroke he labled everyone who did not agree with him, as well as every user of this site, as mindless morons and half witted idiots.
Why? Over his ego.
As someone pointed out he was getting over 8+ all the time, which is damn good.
I guess he felt he deserved an instant 10 and a crew of gushing fanboys.

CMON is a reflection of the real world in this: No matter what you do people will like you or hate you for no good reason.
Look at sports, think of a player you like, now think of the people who don\'t like them.

I liked Tim, but hey, my life will go on.

I understand your point, but I don\'t think he threw a \'tantrum\'. He quietly left, and only on investigation did people find his comments in his profile. I don\'t think he was directing those words towards us.

Besides, we are just assuming that is why he left. I would still like to hear his side of the story.

I guess on the bright side, I have more space in the \'my favorites\' space....

Tim\'s a decent chap and he\'s done some wonderful jobs on GF bases. Sorry he pulled his stuff, but bollocks to letting a number on a website get your blood pressure going.

I have enough stress at work without letting the odd cock-head spoil my fun here.

I still like CMON.

hear, hear

what i wouldn\'t give for someone to snipe my minis....

The thing I dont understand is that Tim got GOOD scores.
Unless he wanted 9+ for everything.???
I guess this is why I am puzzled. \"It\'s his loss\" may have been a harsh thing to say, because it\'s too bad he chose to leave, but it IS more his loss than ours. At any rate, the harsh words left behind in his forum profile puzzle me. No kind words for those of us who liked his work, only scorn for those who apparently did not.
I\'m pretty certain he watched his scores to votes ratio like a hawk. And he has said before that it is not the lower scores but the unrationalized low scores. No criticism to back up the low score.

And who knows, he may have had the same problem that several people noted in the feedback thread about vote count doubling and score dropping rapidly.

I\'ve spent a few lunches IM\'ing with Tim and discussing all sorts of things in addition to minis.

I think I\'m on his blocked list now. :( I see him log on, then he goes off-line.

He helped me a lot with the Yheti for the first Paint-Aid and I really appreciate it.

Tim, you\'re always welcome back here as far as I am concerned.

I certainly agree that Tim seemed like a really good guy and quite helpful and it\'s a shame to lose him and his work here and he\'d be more than welcome to return as far as I\'m concerned....

...but...

Sorry, but everytime this happens there is some great call for sweeping reforms in the voting process. Bullocks!!! The voting process here is what the votoing process here is. From anything I\'ve ever heard borg or chern ann say, this wasn\'t intended at all to be an elitist site. The ideas was for the site to have the broadest appeal possible. It seems to me that all the attempts to \"reform\" the voting process boil down to:

\"Only people who agree with me should be able to vote.\"
Couch it how you will, but doesn\'t it come down to that essentially? If all you want is fanboy drooling and sycophantic praise, get a private website and post a gallery on it where no voting is allowed. If you want to play in the rough and tumble real world, then grow a thick skin.
\"Hey!\" you say. \"Who are you to talk? You don\'t have a gallery here!\"
No, you\'re right. I don\'t. There\'s a couple ofl reasons for that. One is, I\'m really not a very good minipainter. I do it as a HOBBY - ie - for the fun of it. Don\'t really care if everyone thinks they\'re 3s. I do it to relax. I do other things more seriously, but unless I\'m mistaken, there is no CoolWatercolorOrNot :D And actually, even that I don\'t do so seriously :D

Anyways (climbing back in from that tangent) while I\'ll miss Tim (and several others who have left before - in a huff or otherwise) I don\'t see it as a reason to radically alter the primary nature of this site. Tim has just exercised one of the basic options we all have: if you don\'t like a place, leave.

Sorry. Used to fence-sit a lot, but I always seemed to end up with sores on my butt.

Another point to bring up, is that while Tim did beautiful metallics, Metallics are not the Flavor of the Month.
There seems to be quite a few people who think NMM is the pinacle of painting, and score accordingly.
It\'s a cruel curse of human nature, people always claim they want new or different, but when something new or different comes around they dislike it, if you do not conform you will score lower.
The mob is fickle.

And this is almost an over-dissection now. I can see his point even though I\'m normally on the other side of that fence that Daubs just jumped off of lol

Job done, let it lie. Perhaps :D

just to be clear, im not advocating sweeping reform.
....
suggestion for sweeping reform :p : all guests (voters not logged on) must view a voting guide PAGE containing a clear explanation of tabletop etc, before continuing on to vote and comment.

I felt that I should post my view after seeing this thread and finidnig hard to believe the amount of discussion that it had generated.

Firstly I ften said that scores were not important but comments were and to that I still hold. I never openly announced that I was leaving the site I just pulled my images after being targeted by someone who just I can only think wanted me down the rankings.

The comment I posted in my profile was made in anger and frustration and looking back now I regret that and have since taken it down. The comment certainly was not aimed at the people who I generaly get on with on the site but at whoever was using me for target practice.

I never expect to get high scores I am pleasantly surprised when a mini does well, it is the principle of the thing it doesn\'t matter whether a person scores high nines or low fives, the targeting of an individual to keep his scores low just because you can and not be held to account for it iw in my opinion wrong.

I was angry with what was happening and the way it was happening, only my top 5 minis were recieving votes and having their scores affected. Now I know this still left me with respectable scores but in the space of a few hours on one afternoon my top five went from the scores they were at mid nines to high eights, like I said still respectable but to see this drop in such a short space of time got me quite angry and confirmed what I had suspected over previous days.

I did not make an issue of it as I did not post a thread to complain or call for a change in the way Cmon is run. I am not a pre-madonna either. I enjoy painting miniatures for miniatures sake Having said that I am not going to let some body target me in that manner either. I strongly rebuffed the idea when it was discussed before for a Cmon 2 and to that I still hold also.

As for spitting my preverbial dummy out I think that was an unfair comment but you have the right to make it Mark. The comment left in my profile was intended to be seen by whoever was targetting me, like I said that was a little childish and with hindsight and a clear thinking mind not the best of things to do.

I will still post WIP\'s here from time to time but my gallery will remain empty. I have a gallery on Hedge Wizards and Tracy please do not take them down you have benn wonderful in hosting them for me.

My main love in mini painting life is LOTR and that is where my heart truly lies and so I do spend alot of time on the one-ring website and I do paint far more OTR minis than anything else. This is not a popular subject on Cmon and so the images of them rarely appear here.

I hope I have explained a little of how I feel and have felt, oh yes and one more thing specifically for airhead, mate you are not blocked by msn when you hollered the other day we were having problems with the pc and we had to shut it down and restart it by the time I had done that it was time for me to fly out the door to work. I have not blocked you indeed I have only ever blocked one or two people in my entire time on the net.

Now please lay this thread to rest.

Sorry...

Couldn\'t let this die without having my say:p

Tim, IMO you are one of the compass points around which CMON is oriented. Your contributions have helped enormously to balance out the cretin/normal ratio on this site. You have been a bedrock of common sense and sanity on the forums.
I respect your decision, but I will certainly miss your contributions and can only hope that you wont abandon us entirely;)

Don\'t let the bastards win???
