Well I picked up on this thread a while ago and apart from the lady who became my wife I was at a loss of what to put. Generally I just try to do the little things that help and make people feel a bit happier.
But there's one thing I do remember.
My wife and I live by a park in which there's a cafe which we'd frequented for years. Anyhow with our kids around we got into conversation with an elderly couple. Turned out he was ex Royal Air Force, as I am. Well he had nobody to share his memories with and we gelled. Well, to keep this short he never got his medals from WW2 - said he wasn't bothered. I'd taken lots of notes and said I'd write up his service 'life' and he kindly lent me his papers to help. So I got hold of my contacts in the RAF and sent in his papers. He received a small box a couple of weeks later, his medals were inside. His wife told me he was so moved, couldn't wait to show me.
But that's not much compared to the rest of you - just a little something I'm happy to have done.
