I disagree - I primed the orc I\'m doing for the Metaladept contest black and then went over it with a light blue and everything turned out fine

I disagree more! Everyone knows it\'s hard to get good coverage with a light paint over a dark base!

Clearly the answer is either. Although for an elf, who are all lightness and airy fairy goodness, a more vibrant light colour looks good, and so white may be the way to go, but really either will do.

I\'ll say white. I tried to do a light blue color on black once, and the mini ended up in bake fluid. I\'m never trying to do that again, to much of a pain in the a$$ Good luck

I\'m for the white party, too, with a black/dark blue wash to help you underlining the areas you\'ll have to shade

feeling self destructive?

Paint one half black and the other white. Then try your hardest to get both sides to look the same. Then tell us which was the easiest to paint.

my worthless opinion:

I understand the need to paint with white when you want bright, vibrant colors. However, if you are trying to black line, or if you have some deep crevace that you simply must get paint into, having white as a base can be a b***h. The paint never seems to want to get down into the groove and you always have this little piece of white glaring at you. At least if it\'s a black spot you miss it looks like shadow.

On the other hand, I don\'t see a lot of narrow grooves on this model. You should be fine with white.

ps. I would not discount gray.

barkel and Cosmotiger are right.

Another idea:
Everybody involved in this thread should buy the Dragonlord, paint it with the \"best\" undercoat, and post the result on CMON =)

I\'ll improve that idea a bit : You pay me two dragons and I\'ll try both methodes befor telling you witch one is the best :p
What you could do though is do a bit a searching for a dark blue undercoat, I\'m sure it exists. :D

I\'m not sure but GW released Ultramarine\'s Blue in spraycan, you can also paint this dragon as a Ultramar\' Artefact =)

Two Words: Terra Cotta !

Okay, so not really. :D

I think I\'d go with a white or possibly gray undercoat and a blue or black inwash to get those bothersome crevices and creases.

Aw, for fluffs sake!!!

Undercoat the dark bits black and the light bits white!!!

Put it on its back and spray white, turn the bugger over and spray black. You might need to treat the wings separately but that shouldn\'t present any probs.

By the way, what should I have for dinner tomorrow?
