I actually have loads of mates in Nottingham and I have a place at Nottingham Uni coming up! I might be getting a spiffy job down here first though so I\'ll have to wait and see... If it alls goes well then I will never go. Even if I don\'t get the job I can go to uni so I\'ll cu all next year if I go!

Oh and Nelson and Headstrom just for completeness...

and to ask something: what exactly happened to mike mcvey? why don\'t his models appear in the white dwarf anymore?

As far as I know Mike McVey is the head-honcho of Rivet Head Studios now, the creative heads behind Warmachine. Most of the Jacks for example were sculpted by Mike. His equally talented wife is doing a lot of the painting (Fluffy here on CMoN).

On topic: My favorite GW painter is Seb Perbet with aweome minis like his Nurgle Demon Prince (I am not counting Tammy since she is working freelance now ;) )

Well, maybe the colours are off, but that\'s not his fault. i mean, in EM, they tell you to paint it a certain way, that\'s your job, it\'s grey, it\'s grey, it\'s pink, it\'s pink. You have hardly any say on what looks good and what deosn\'t,. because that is for the managers to decide. Actually that\'s the same way Rackham work, and frankly, any other company in the business really.

And yes, the Em team can paint to that standard, if they had half the chance. Problem is, they\'re hired to paint 3000 to 5000 point ARMIES, and that\'s in the span of about 6 weeks per project(even divided by eight painters, that\'s a hell of a lot of models). At Rackham, they only paint one of each model, like in EM in the old days, you\'ll remember that the painting standard 10 years ago technique wise looked better. (no as much colour choice tho, hate the red weapon thing)

So what do you think is better, a team of 5 painters(I think Rackham have 5 now, not sure) paint 6 to 8 models a month, or a team of 8 paint about 250...think about it(and keep the standards in mind) these figures aren\'t totally correct, but come close to reality. Being in EM takes the most important skill a figure painter can have, speed. Everybody with a certain amount of skill can paint the best figure in the world if they take months, it takes an extraordinary talent to do it in a few days....

Oh, And Mike, i\'ll have to behave a little in Brummie in October, have to still find my way back home to Notts you know ;)

the best are.......

juan diaz is a man apart because he is not only a great artist...he is increasing his sculpt\'s level every time..
jess goodwing is a legend so no more to say...
about painters..I think all of them are awesome painters and i was working in a workshop store and i know about paint a daemon prince in 3 days...it is horrible..so i can understand eavy metal painters. but the fact is that managers should let them more time to paint. don\'t think so?

Tammy: A thing that I have always wanted to know about the EM team. Do you prep, prime and base every mini you paint yourselves or do you have some slaves to do that.

The EM team are very talented and a pity that they don\'t get more time on some projects and choose their own ways to paint some minis.

What about Mike?

What about our very own Dragonsreach, Mike Dodds? Sure, he doesn\'t work for the company directly, but he did contribute work to the article for painting Sisters of Battle. Or don\'t you guys pay attention to the credits in White Dwarf?

Nope. I think they set a realistic standard for tabletop gamers. The standard they set is still better than what you see in most armies.

I think you have to gauge your painting standard to what is required to play the game. Confrontation is a skirmish game. You can take time to do more to figs when a playable group is fairly small.

unfortunately yes, but then again, makes sure someone doesn\'t stick the figures together wrong....actually, sometimes they have to stick together figures for other people, i remember the playtest models for LOTR using plastic bretonnians and goblins, that was fun...:S

Trevor

Brushlicker and Freak!
Off top of my head.

Jez, Juan, Brian and Simon Egan for sculpters.

Its kind of hard for the painters because its not always obvious who did what, but I knew Keith back when he was at Dundee before working for EM, and his stuff was great then. Mike McVey really brought foward painting. Tammy\'s nurgle stuff was great, but then it\'ll look like I\'m sucking up...

But given how slowly I paint this really stings:

\"Everybody with a certain amount of skill can paint the best figure in the world if they take months, it takes an extraordinary talent to do it in a few days....\"

thanks I feel great now :( ;)

I would want to first know why you particularly chose those sculptors? What is it that you don\'t like about their creations?

Not saying I don\'t agree on some points but, I would want to know this before I voted on which I liked and which I didn\'t.

\"Everybody with a certain amount of skill can paint the best figure in the world if they take months, it takes an extraordinary talent to do it in a few days....\"

I\'d like to change that quote to \"Everybody with a certain amount of ambition can paint the best figure in the world if they take as long as it takes for it to look good to them.\", and you can quote me on that.

Now on a seperate subject.
@ Tammy Haye: I\'ve always wondered this, was the yellow imperial eagle crest on the ultramarines minis painted by the EM team (maybe we should call them EMTs), an early look at NMM in minis?
