WTF are they doing?

They shouldn\'t be out there in the first place (the whalers, not the protesters.)

Oh, yeah, thats right, Japan claims it needs to \'slaughter\' these for \'scientific research\'.

Boy I wonder about this. Mine you this is just my observations.
One. It sure doesn\'t look to me that the Brit is bounded to the mast of the ship. The pictures show that everything (from the angle) above a certain point is painted white, and he is against a blue background. I would say that he is at either the stern or on one of the sides of the boathouse.
Two. They where bound with ropes? Again from the picture, Someone has to go back to rope and knot tieing class again. The has to be the one of the worst binding that I\'ve ever seen. Plus as the insert shows of the mans wrist, He is bounded with quick ties to the inside railing, so why would they have to tie him up with rope? I\'m a thinking that the Captain of the fishing vessel was right, and the two men where planing to bind up the props in rope. Again that\'s my view on that.
Three. From the sounds of things, the two men did board the vessel without permission , which does sound like \"piratecy\" to me (I don\'t have any sort of laws of the high seas to double check that, but if that is the case isn\'t the Captain well within his legal right to confine the two men until they can be turned over to the proper authorities?
Four. Who\'s going to take anyone with a Rebel symbol painted on their headgear seriously?

I\'m not trying to make any point on whaling (good or bad), just trying to figger out who\'s right and wrong, and who full of it. Sorry, but the story of the \"Greenpeacers\" sounds a little fishy (pun intended)

Captain Paul Watson, who last year threatened to ram a Japanese whaling flagship, said: \"Holding two hostages and demanding that the whaling protests stop before the men were handed over is nothing short of terrorism.\"

A man threatening to ram his boat into another\'s has no right to call someone else a terrorist.

Sure he does. It makes him a hypocrite, but it\'s still his right to say it!

Depends on the country he\'s from, and how strict their libel or \"hate speech laws\" are.

The Sea Shepherd Society sinks whaling ships as a hobby. Eco-terrorists.

Well, the Shepards could get away with psychological torture. Giving a Eco-activist a whale meat meal..that\'s not even funny.

Other point is: I thought the whales are killed for science (*trying not to laugh*)!?
Since I\'m working at a laboratory for myself...I don\'t eat my probes (and will not offer them to some \"guests\"). So much for the big Japanese lie on Whale Science.

Japanese are just so stubborn on this case. Can\'t they not just stay at their \"fishing the oceans empty for our sushi\" mentality? No, they also want the big ones...

lol lol lol I had to go back and check that out, first sign they are looney they are lookin for darth vader on a japanese whaling ship.

all honesty they are all a bunch of screwwy bastards, if I went to yellow stone and started shootin bald eagles I\'d be arrested on the spot. but the japanese can go to a whale reserve and disobey world law by ignoring the U.N. moritorium on whaling, and at the same time these eco-nuts go around ramming ships (they have sunk their fair share and put at risk the lives of who knows how many) so you have international criminals vs eco-terrorists all honesty maybe we should just let em duke it out. The sad part is that if the world community actually enforced the moritorium then wacko jackasses like paul watson (if you ever see an interview with this guy he\'s a nut case) wouldn\'t feel the need to take the law into their own hands.

I like the way they report that some british citizen of such and such blah blah bla oh and I think some Aussie bloke was there too.

At home we didnt even hear about the brit. It was reported that an aussie and another protestor.

Goes to show how the news is bent to the home land.

And if its for research where is all the research data. I for one would like to see it. Or is the data that we are stupid enough to believe them.

Whaling besides the point though, those guys \"stormed the whaling vessel Yushin Maru\" (allegedly). Now, I may be way off base here, but I believe that a private vessel has the right to detain \"pirates\" if captured (\"detain\" at a minimum). Any Navy types out there can field that one for me?

As far as the whaling and the protestors: They\'re all morons.
