Why \"SciFi\" Originals Suck.

Are you talking about the one that hatched from the egg in an underground genetics research lab?

Speak of... how many underground genetics research labs that all look identical are in Sci-Fi pictures?

I dunno.. how many anal rentetive control freak para-military authority figures in Sci Fi Pictures... teh Answer: ALL OF THEM!!!! lol

I think every movie done by MTS3K is horrible.. I remember when they were still on the SciFi channel and they heckled a SciFi Original! It was call \"Knights of the order of goodly goodness\" or something asinine... One of my fav Mysty movies was the Japanese \"Space Prince\" for where about a third of the movie is him telling the bad guys their guns won\'t affect him.. :p

My girlfriend\'s mother actually ENJOYS the sci-fi channel movies. She had to sit through \"Spiders\" and \"Decoys\" twice.

But this is a woman who thinks \"Congo\" is a great movie.

There is a black and white short film called \"Gay niggers from outer space\". That one was seriously disturbing.
Another really bad Sci-Fi movie is \"Zombie \'90 - extreme pestilence\". Really, the name tells it all :D
The price for the lamest \"contemporary fantasy\" movie goes to \"Faust\" for me. It\'s... well, it is SUPPOSED to be based on the book Faust, but basically you have a guy with claws (got those from Mephisto of course) who turns into a masked and caped super hero and fights a generic cult that resurrects \"The Homunculus\" (some kind of fire-breathing demon worm thingy). The Homunculus, by the way, sits in his pit all the time, probably thinking \"Yeah, I\'ll destroy earth. Tomorrow.\"

Movie I was most embarrassed to take someone to see

\"the Man Who Fell to Earth\"
starring David Bowie

One scene sticks out in my mind. His wife discovers he\'s an alien and the camera zooms in on her crotch and you get to see the urine begin running down her leg:|~

Congo is a moderalty good comedy- but no credibility as a SciFi flick in my book.. in fact, haven\'t you noticed Michael Crichton likes sending \'Teams\' of people places?
Jurassic park- team to investigate park
Congo- team to go into congo
Andromeda Strain- team to reasearch alien disease
Timeline- team goes back in time
13th Warrior- team goes to kill eat monsters
Sphere- team goes to investigate a sphere
I think the only book he made into a movie that didn\'t have a team for most of the movie was teh Terminal man... but a team of sugeons did put the chip in his head.. :p

they can\'t be serious....can they...

I don\'t mind a cheesy sci-fi movie, if that is the way it was intended. Kind of tongue in cheek...

The ones that really bother me are the Sci-fi movies intended to be serious, but are so poorly done it is an embarassment to even watch them. :flame:

Actually, That movie was based on an indy comic book of the same name, not the book. This origin has no impact on it\'s lameness.:)

Well said Supervike. A good Cheese ridden sci-fi movie that has fun with it can actually be good. The worst are those that are absurd, but try to be serious and fail miserably.

THE best show on sci-fi and makes having the channel available is Stargate SG-1. Excellent acting and great stories. Sort of a modernized Star Trek. They remember the idea is to have a good story about people that have cool toys. NOT to have a story about cool toys that happen to have some people carrying them around.;)

If you haven\'t given Stargate a chance you should, But there is so much character development that has happened during the series, you probably have to see a few episodes before you can completely get into it.

Starcrash
Starring: Caroline Munro & David HasselBoff ...oh sorry Hasselhoff. :D

Ed wood would have disowned that, but there is even a fan site. How sad

Plan 9

I actually heard Bela Lugosi died while making it and they just got someone to put the cape over thier face for the rest of the movie.. Sheesh...

The best part of Plan 9 is the scene where they are walking through the cemetary and the headstones are wiggling and rocking back and forth because the ground was made of foam rubber! What a hoot. It really has earned it\'s place in movie histiry as the worst film ever! So it is worth seeing just for the educational experience.

The Troma films are just a hoot! Surf Nazis must Die, was a classic, but my favorite was Amazon Women and the Avocado Jungle of Death. A movie title that just screams, watch me!

Another bit of cheese that was pretty funny is Ice Pirates: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone. Very campy and if you take it for what it is it\'s got some pretty funny moments.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Scratch one up on the list: Clerks that actually have some idea of what they tell you: 0
Clerks that have a guess and get angry if you doubt it: too many

Just now a Sci-Fi Classic came to mind: Raumschiff Orion - Raumpatrouille. I have no idea if there ever was an english version (Orion - space patrol?), but it was just great when they fumbled around with the ironing boards that was their flight control. The aliens were simple people out of focus and the exploding planet was a wonderful painted football. Ah..... good series, seriously. Extremely old, too.....

I agree! I love those movies just for their sheer idiocy! And just a bit of meaningless trivia: Amazon Women and the Avocado Jungle of Death\" featured a young Bill Maher of \"Politically Incorrect\" infamy. :D
And another bit of foolishness, I once found this \"Direct Your Own Adult Movie\" CD in the $3 Markdown bin. It had all these clips from R-rated and soft porn movies that you could put together to make your own little movies. Featured prominently among the clips were several from both \"Surf Nazis\" and \"Amazon Women...\" :D:D What a hoot.
