Hope this is the right forum for this question!
This guy is about 60% done, and I\'m finding myself with some color decisions I\'d like other opinions on:
The armor was supposed to be done (white with purple-ish shadows), but does it look too washed out? I could add some grey shadows. It started as a mix of Rainy Grey (neutral Reaper gray) + Liche Purple and a dab of medium blue, lightened up to pure white.
I\'m not 100% happy with the colors showing up on my monitor, so for reference, the top layer of fabric is Tentacle pink hightlighted with white. The middle layer and sheild is Tentacle pink with Warlock purple. The bottom layer is Warlock + Liche purple. The blade and crest are pure Jade Green, with a touch of ink wash in the recesses of a mix of blue and black ink. The worm is Pallid Flesh + Dark Flesh with a hint of Purple Ink, lightened up to almost white. His leather tail will be dark purple.
My questions are this:
1) this is my first NMM. For the worm\'s armor, I used Bronzed Flesh as my base as it\'s pretty close to the Vomit Brown (which I didn\'t have) that I saw in a \"recipie\" around here for Gold NMM. Mixing this with black made it greenish (I suspect Chaos Black has a lot of blue in it), so I used Scorched Brown for shadows, and white mixed with it for hightlights. Overall, it ended up looking way too brown, so I glazed it with Bad Moon Yellow, which improved it a bit. For the sheild, I used smakebite leather instead, which I think is a better Gold base. Perhaps I should be using Bleached Bone instead for hightlights? Any other suggestions for improvement?
2) I want a contrast to the pink/purple in the center. According to color theory, a blue-green (why I went with Jade Green) and yellow orange form a triad to the red-purple. My husband thinks the Gold NMM forms the yellow-orange part, thus the need for the blue green. I\'m not sure I\'m buying it! I did his gems and some of his belt items in shades of orange to add more.
Any help appreciated!
