after getting my hand dirty with Necron, and growing tired of the black and gray painting, i decided to switch army, and go with the new Eldars. I like their flashy color, their history, and their new mini (especially the harlequin)
So i got myself
1 Old Battleforce (practice and all)
1 New Battleforce
1 Karandras The Shadow Hunter
and my wife got me :
1 Eldar Seer Council (5 miniatures)
1 Eldar Dire Avengers (10 models)
I\'m still far from done buying, but for now, it will do. On my \"to buy\" list, there\'s still : Eldar Rangers (5 figures), Eldar Wraithlord (1 model), Eldar War Walker Squadron (3 models), and Eldar Swooping Hawks (6 Figures). Basically, each of the units i like the most from Eldar. Probably some harlequin too eventually, but for now, that\'s the list...
They are aimed to be painted mostly for fun, no show, just a good looking army that i could play, if i ever feel like understanding all the rules and codex.
After much deliberation, i decided to go with a red/white look. Most of the red is painted with Scab Red, and highlight will be painted with Red Gore, but i will most likely only highlight the backpack.
The white is just that, Skull White, and will most likely not see much highlight or shading for now. I may add some Ice Blue as highlight but for now, its solid color. (white was hard enough to get, i\'m kind of scared to screw it while trying to do some blue inking on it)
The biggest gem and the eyes will be painted Enchanted Blue while the smaller gem will be painted Goblin Green.
So here\'s the idea :
And here\'s the first test :
The head just got started, and the white still has some work to be done. I Primered them white, then painted the red, but didnt know it would be so hard to cover up with the white, so i wasnt too careful. Lesson learned.
here\'s my first gem... i think it ended quite nicely, using GW technique.... blue, bottom lighter blue, and a white dot at the top
that mini took me about 6 hours so far (still have to do the arms and weapon)... considering i have like 30 of them, i\'m scared.... but i love what i did with it, and am actually very proud of the result, even if its far from perfect..
Now a Quiz... what color should i paint the weapon? i was thinking bleached bone maybe, but not 100% sure.
