OK - I know I haven\'t been around here much (ok, ok - at all!), but now that Grumb\'s going to be around a little more this coming year hopefully I\'ll have more of a chance to pop in now and again. (And I might actually do some painting.)

Anyway, I\'m having Lasik surgery tomorrow (Wed.) and I\'m nervous as hell so everyone send me GOOD thoughts tomorrow. As soon as I can see close-up again I\'ll let you know how it went.

On a side note, just want everyone to know that we\'re (Grumb and I) are planning on hosting at our house another Atlanta GD party (with Rodnik and his wife\'s help). Hope you can make it!

Thanks WP!!

I don\'t mind surgery - so long as they don\'t touch my eyes!! (Hence the terror tomorrow!) :(

On another note, my sister now lives in San Diego and I\'m hoping we can make it out there next year. Maybe we could look you up WP?

I really am scared to death. I did make sure they were going to give me a Valium before I even consented to the paperwork a month ago! :D

all the best:)

and remember, courage isn\'t about being \"brave\" it\'s about facing your fears.

unless facing your fears means taking on a fat bolton lass who fancies you, and your to drunk to do much at all. that scares the shit out of me lol

Dawn, hang in there, it will be fine. You won\'t remember most of it. And when you come out of the fog, you\'ll have great eyes.

Takes about a month for the light sensitivity to go away, so get yourself some good dark brown sunglasses.

I\'ll say a prayer for you and your surgeon.

Good Luck Dawn!!

I\'ll be thinking about you and I hope to see you again here soon!

You\'re a braver woman than me. Even if I could afford it, I doubt I\'d do it becuase it\'d scare the crap outta me too!

Hang in there! Just think of all the minis you\'ll be able to see to paint.

:D

Woo! No more contacts/glasses! (though I like MY glasses) I\'m sure everything will go just peachy.

Don\'t they do one eye at a time?

My best friend has just had it done. And despite the initial \"scratchy\" feeling he\'s had no problems.

I\'m hoping that you\'ll have even less of a problem than he had.

What\'s wrong with bigger girls anyway? Or is it just the ones from Bolton?

The old joke is true, they are like mopeds, a great to ride until your mates see you on one. So just forget what your mates say and enjoy yourself!

And once more back to the topic. All the best, I\'m sure you will be fine. You are probably more likely to encounter disaster crossing the street than in this sort of surgery these days dontcha think?

 Isn’t this is where the phrase “ close your eyes and think of England” comes in.lollol

@ Red Dawn...... would love to meet you :)

Thanks everyone! WP, I can\'t \"close my eyes and think of England\" anymore - not after all those comments of \"Bolton girls.\" Makes me think of how much work it\'s going to take to work off ALL the chocolate I\'ve eaten to prepare for this day! :D

Well, I\'m off in about 20 min. Where\'s that danged throwing up smiley when you need one! And that\'s just from thinking about how much I had to pay for the prescription drops they had me get - $50 freaking dollars for a paltry 5 mls!!!

Everybody have a GREAT day and I\'ll let you know when I can see again!

Dawn,
I wish I had seen this sooner---but good luck!

I had mine done about 9 months ago....went from 20/120 to a 20/15.

Absolute best money I\'ve ever spent.

Anyway---it ain\'t too bad. Procedure only takes a few minutes.

The hardest part is not being able to touch/rub your eyes for a month.......and the freaky little goggles you gotta wear while you sleep.

After surgery, you\'ll be a bit \"milky\" with the vision. It goes away. A couple of days, and you\'ll be seeing a whole new world. If you want to talk about what to expect, just give me a ring---you guys have the numbers--and I\'ll tell you how mine went.

Good stuff, my dear..good stuff.

And yea..the GD Atlanta weenie roast (and no, \"weenie roast\" doesn\'t mean \"making fun of Kevin\")..is on the calendar....just let me know what we need to do!

:D Dawn, have Grumb read them to you if need be......a good laugh is the best medicine

You Are No Longer \"Cool\" When...

1. You find yourself listening to talk radio.

2. You daughter says she got pierced and you look at her ears.

3. The pattern on your shorts and couch match.

4. You fondly remember your powder blue leisure suit.

5. You think Tragically Hip is when a middle-aged man gets a new sports car, hair piece and a 20 year old girlfriend.

6. You criticize the kids of today for their satanic suicide-inducing music, forgetting that you rocked to Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath.

7. You call the police on a noisy party next door instead of grabbing beer and joining it.

8. You turn down free tickets to a rock concert because you have to work the next day.

9. When grass is something that you cut, not cultivate.

10. When jogging is something you do to your memory.

11. Getting a little action means your prune juice is working.

12. All the cars behind you flash their headlights.

13. You remember the \"Rolling Stones\" as a rock group not a corporation.

14. You bought your first car for the same price you paid for your son\'s new running shoes.

15. You actually ASK for your father\'s advice.

16. You don\'t know how to operate a fax machine.

17. When someone mentions SURFING you picture waves and a surf board.
