If you think you\'ve seen this girlie before, you\'d be right. She appeared in a thread about 2 years ago when I was questioning how the hell to shade white! Well she has sat on the shelf since then because I was never confident I had the skills to do her justice. Sure I\'ve done other models since, but they have been a lot smaller and in my opinion, less technical. Rackham has always been my \'holy grail\' - I love the detail and emotion they give their figures.

Peter had an Ashan\'Tyr to finish as a commission, so we decided to do them together. I\'m amazed at how different the two models look. I\'m lucky to have someone who will put up with my painting tantrums and give me encouragement to complete what I started ;) :innocent:

I loved making the base, which in itself represents a huge achievement for me. It\'s funny what you can create with some coffee stirers, two pieces of cork, some sand and a little imagination ;) Oh and that cool water-effects stuff too. I have plenty of pics if anyone is interested in seeing how it was put together.

As usual, votes and comments gratefully received. Thank you in advance :D

i\'m pretty sure it\'s flat sheets of cork piled to look like rock. But it\'s more complex than the average cork base... there\'s probably green stuff and resins in there too.

You don\'t post figures often enough!
But what you do post...........

Realy like it, Ashan\'tyr is one of my favourite Rackham pieces. Poised and elegant and you\'ve brought her to life.

Excellent job.
im not usually a fan of cork bases but you have managed to make it look \"not\" like a cork base.

\"once you were the teacher, now I am the master\"

Very good!

Far too good in fact!

Keep up the momentum and get another mini straight on the production line ;)

The face is gorgeous and I especially like the base. Just the tail I find odd, is it on fire? Probably, she\'s pretty hot all around! :D

Excellent work, the hilt of the sword looks a bit strange though. I\'d guess to many spots of white on the gold NMM, which prevents us from understanding where the light comes from. The grey leather also looks strange... The transition between light and dark is too abrupt IMO.
Otherwise the rest looks great, maybe a few more lights on the tail...
Hope this helps!

Overwhelmed....

...with all your kind comments. Thanks to you all for taking the time to look and vote. I think I\'m on an all time high at the moment - she really is the best thing I have done. In fact, I may even release the mole-grips for a while and let Peter have a little run around, that\'s how good I feel ;) lol

@Kendaric - I think the problem with the sword hilt is the fact it is against her hood, which is very similar in colour and confuses the eye. Re the leather, not sure which part you mean - maybe the grip of the sword?

@ajthomas - I was planning on doing a very brief tutorial re the base, so you should see it on CMON soon.

Thanks to everyone again! :D :bouncy:

The base really sets the whole thing off , its a nice little scene, and to be fair i can\'t find anything to improve on (not that thats much help :)), If anything maybe the sword could use a tad more contast, but that\'s about it. 9.5 :)
