I got the Covenant from Chrispy - you can see how he looked when I got him top right. I took him apart and put him back together, resculpting some of the facial details and the arms.

Any ideas for freehand on the coat?

Everyones work is looking great its nice to see wip pictures and then see the finished piece. Here is one of my samurai, I try to do a bit on them now and again, I have 20 on foot plus about 10 mounted. I\'m not sure whether to do them with similar colour schemes to give them more of an army feel or just go nuts.

They are abit of a git because there so small and yet still have loads of detail. The other pic is a flag which will go on his back.

You have some rather dynamic blues and reds, more so than I\'ve been able to hammer out on the pallet.

:Guido coming out with a ham fist:

Gimme da recipe or face dah\' conseequences!

:Frustrated Father jumping back in:

Best do it man, I dunno how messy this can get. Really ...

ok, well here is what I\'m up to tonight...

inquisitor-WIP.jpg

It looks a bit odd without the mini which is casting the shadow, or the light source, but as you can see, I\'m toying around with a little object light sourcing. The mini isn\'t going very well atm, I seem to have painters block on it :(

I\'m determined to get this done asap however, as it is a gift to my game store for taking good care of me recently.

Sorry for the crappy lighting in the photo, just snapped it off with one light, didn\'t get out the photo setup.

Spacemunkie I ove that top model it looks like a 40k Thrudd. Covenant looks cool as well.

Brother Tom I like the look of that Samurai I think you will need some patience to paint the amount you have to do.

EricJ great base what is going on it?

JOSHUA:
That bust is looking great! The eyes are the main thing and a long as you remember that the \'Whites\' aren\'t white it\'ll look great.
A couple of touches of very dilute deep red around the nostril wings and corners of the eyes might help. If you look back to the Ursakar Creed bust I\'m still working on, (OK Blatant plug & ATM he\'s gathering dust) shown a few pages back on here, you might see what I mean.
I like the idea of changing him from a \"Puppy\" into a Dark Angel.

Not realy a WIP anymore as I just completed it. It is the second part of my mini swaparound contribution,

I did not have the time to do what I originally intended as the closing date is not far away so the base ended up a bit lame but I still like it none the less hope you all do too.

ahhhh ... what exactly do you mean by \"not white\"? i painted the eyxes yesterday before i read this :( i looked in the mirror and mine seemed pretty white.
by the way thanks for all your suggestions im gonna give it a try (oh and your busts face helped a lot for my imagination of the \"red issue\" you mentioned) btw the bust looks awesome :)

Ok if you look in the mirror you\'ll see that the corners of your eyes will have a little display of fine bloodvessels, this changes the colour there. The rest of the Sclera is actually off white this is caused by diet and health conditions. Most changes in the White is caused by poor nutrition, disease history, exhaustion levels (toxins) and sometimes the recent diet.

One of my colleagues has had a serious dose of Jaundice and that has left her eyes with a destinct yellow tinge, while one of the \"Veggies\" I know has very dark eyes in the corner but very clear almost pure white around the pupil.

If you use something like Vallejo Pale sand and Ivory to paint in the white of the eye it will reduce the Staring effect.
Hope that this helps.

Thanks for the comments on my Ursakar Creed.

@frustrated father- The red is pretty simple they are GW paints, start off with scad red mixed with a bit of black for the shading, then just scab red and finally blood red. As for the blue ill have to get back to you as I have forgotten (i,m always doing that)
@Tidicco222- I think that base looks great, I like the freehand on the guys cloak, did you do that freehand on the mounted version as I dont recall seeing it.

Joshua - the face looks great so far - I\'m not sure if feasible to recreate Hardy\'s oil paint technique in acrylics!
But what DR says about the whilts of the eyes is very true - buy keeping them off white stops the bug-eye effect: check this:
http://www.planetfigure.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2054
and with the flesh tone applied:

hope there\'s something of help there

I just started the work on Duke von Castellan. It\'s just a scan and almost all the highlights are invisible and so is the eye:( The skin took me about 2,5 hours.

The base is for one of those limited run Inquisitors, that I think were only available in the US for a short time, it\'s kind of a long story how I ended up with one, but I\'ll explain it all once it done and posted. But the scene is going to have a title on the base \"scourging\" as it\'s the inquisitor trying to clean up a slightly corrupted planet...

I really do love this thread, great stuff everyone!

A shot of my chaplain I am working on...

progress has been slow as I have been constructing all the troops I need for my army in interesting(ish) poses so I can paint them all at once.

I welcome your comments.
