heres a rough draft for a freehand for the shoulderpad of the bust
its my first freehand thats not total BS :)
the small pic shows the actual size of the draft
unfortunately i suck at drawing so i can just do the plain old hooded angel motive :(

freehand.jpg

like i said its just a draft so i hope the real one will be much smoother and subtler, i. e. the blacklining

@ Brother Tom no I did not do the freehand on the mounted version I may yet go back and add it to it.

@ Joshua that Dark Angel design will look great on that bust can\'t wait to see it finished.

Every one else it\'s all looking good keep it up.

yowzas... that\'s some teeny tiny free hand... looks loads better than i could do!

i\'ve been working on this giant as a side project *hopefully* to get to use him in D&D guarding a gate of some sort (cemetary maybe?) so i picked the Chaos Land Raider (for all it\'s nifty extra stuff) but now that i see the bits on the base, i\'m thinking there\'s not enough room.

Fence and bits;

Too cluttered? Think i should extend the base, (it\'s already a monter... both the giant and his baselol) clutter the base, or leave off the battered/broken gate? If i left off the gate i\'m not sure what i could put down on the base other than another slan victum... but i think dead bodies and skeletons are a bit over used on giant\'s bases... that\'s just me though.

What do you guys think?

im not very good in havind ideas or converting but i think the giant looks great so far, love the colors and the model itself
the only thing i wouldnt do is do keep the asymmetrical base but thats my personal tase because i hate everything thats not a black sided gw base lol

its pretty hard to drybrush a mini that already has the lightest tone of metallic colour so try blacklining and washing/shading with dark blues/blacks/greens the metal. but ask 100 people about painting metal and what you get is 100 different opinions :)

edit: huk what happened to your post? did you delete it? or was it just my imagination that recently there was a pic of a grey knight? :[

heres the crux i worked on for the last hours:
(im planing to add a bonecolor background and some gothic letters to this shoulderpad)

\"actually\" it looks more like copper or brass (therefore the emerald weathering) but i guess when i discover how to take proper photos of metal, universe will contract and implode, leaving nothing but little koalas out there!

@ aragorns_mate- I got really into samurai aswell, bought a load of books on them so as I could do some research and am now hooked, especially the momoyama period, just bought a 90mm mounted lord and its pretty damn impressive, probaly take a bit of work though.
@Joshua- that metal of the shoulder pad looks great is it with metallics.

@tidoco2222- some freehand on the mounted guy would look cool, I think you\'ve done a great job on it but IMO it need something to break up the large areas of blue, some freehand on the horse aswell would look great.

looks very impressive so far.
i really like the colours, very light and sick pale green.
however it looks a little bit to \"imperial\".
i cant point my finger at it but i guess its the imperial eagle on the chest and bolter, the clean sword (the surface, not the color), the purity seals and the slim and dynamic pose thats rather untypical for nurgle (ok i guess i CAN point my finger at it lol .
i suggest you add some rust or oil running out of the various slits and cracks and these infamous \"nurgle bubbles\".
oh and by the way i love the tentacles/hurns and th rust color on the sword/bolter (what color did you use?), really cool work here :)
hope i could help a little

helped a bit il\'l prolly have to add some rust in a couple spots.. i decided to make it a bit more clean yes altho i will take those sedgestions as for the sword i did the standard first... prime black then DB the metalic i chose chainmail for this i do belive.. then i decided to use some flesh wash mixed with brown then added some green and used the 2 diff colours on it in a camo like patern... i chose this pose because i dont like the way the legs are... as for the shoulder got no green stuff so made due with what i got the bolterr is just a drybrush of metalic with flesh wash.. im prolly gonna do a bit more to it tho... any other tips would be greatly apreciated

@wolf_fang: Looking good, The only thing I would sugest changing would be the eye color, that might the part of him that make him looks too much imperial. I think red would do good, it\'s a nice evil eye color and would tie in nicely with the green of the armour.

@green stuff: Great job on the NMM.

@Greenstuff- I also agree that your NMM looks great, I also really like the gold its got a nice green tint to it. It took me a while to figure out that the view was from the top of the mini, it looks very confusing. Which minature is that anyway?
@Wolf-fang, I agree with french kid on the red it should complement the green, seeing as the green is so pale try going for a darker red (burgundy). Maybe if the trim of the shoulder pads where rusty metal to break up the green abit aswell.

@ Green Stuff awesome NMM (I wish I could even get mine to look like metal).

@ Wolf_Fang I like it the green is perfect for Nurgle, If I was you I might try to cover that Eagle with something.

Thanks to all for your comments on the NMM :).

@Ritual : For the gold, I started out with a Citadel Scorched Brown, then lightened with different mixes of Vomit Brown, then went on to Bleached Bone, and finished the lightening phase with Skull White. I then applied a Yellow Glaze all over the gold parts.

@Brother Tom : It\'s the second version of the Warcaster-Kommodor Sorscha from Warmachine. I\'ve added smoke for the furnace on it\'s back in green stuff (I posted front and back WIP views a while back on this thread, but I do agree that the view can be confusing ;)).

I have most of those colours; I\'ll have to give that NMM a go...

Really effective.

Right.

This is the Shae model I am currently working on. Unfortunately, my camara skills are not excellent- she is not that sunburnt in real life!lol

Next up is my Frodo conversion. I was inspired by the FOTR scene with a Hobbit like this. This was the perfect model.

This photo is really just for the jist of it- I have also included a comparisson with the original model below. Note the sideburns ;)

Now here is my question. As you can see, mr Frodo has a lantern. I\'d really like to do some source lighting on it, but don\'t want to spoil the model. Any tips?

Thanks in advance, comments welcome!:D

ok first: awesome conversion, the lotr hobbits are awefully small! and the shae painting looks great, including the pretty face (im totaly lost when it comes to paint female faces)

if you dont want to ruin the mini with a too bright or too yellow and strong osl i suggest you just highlight the areas as normal but with the light coming from the lantern instead of front/top
im not a big fan of all the super heavy green/red/yellow or whatever color osl, i prefer the rather subtle way
