Well provoke me...you chose a very difficult mini to go!
i\'ll try to give you some tip i\'ve found useful:
about the metal armor:
give a base of boltgun metal mixed with a good amount of chaos black, then start to put more strating on the armor pieces everytime clearer, leaving on the external part of the piece a small trace of the precedent mixing.
Something like:
chaos black + boltgun metal
boltgun metal
boltgun metal+chainmail
chainmail
chainmail+mithril silver
mithril silver ( very tiny trace on the centre of the armor piece)
for the sword try something simple:
give the same base as armor, then do the same processing on the blade edges leaving a dark trace when the 2 edges meets on the center of the sword, also put a trace of mithril silver on the top of the sword.
About the cape: give it a regal blue base, then make a wash with a dark blue ink with a lot of water diluited (otherwise it will be glossy) then put again the regal blue on the parts that are (i don\'t know the english word) not in depht then in those parts put always a more lighter blue tone mixing regal blue with ice blue and ice blue with skull white always leaving progressive traces of the precedent mixing.
Hope to be of some help.

@ DanseMacabre: id go with a nmm silver/iron blade on the axe, with nmm gold on the detail of the axe head, with nmm silver/iron with the ople, the gems sound good being green and i quite like the idea of bither highlighted blue trousers, or re and white stripe, but as always the decision is up to you, thats just my preferance. greeat!!!!!!!! work on the skin and hair! it looks awsome! :D can\'t wait to see him finished

@ Logan,thank you very much .
Its basically chaos black primed, boltgun metal base coat, thin chaos black wash(hardly ever use inks now),boltgun metal layered up to mithral silver highlights.
The lighting is done by using chaos black washes for the shadow, very thin so you can layer up to the required depth. The torch reflection is thinned red gore up to thinned golden yellow to skull white edging highlights.

Klute, you painted the flame inside-out : the recesses should be lighter (white/yellow) than the raised parts (orange/red/black). I think.

@U4.......trust me its the right way.Ill have to have a look at that cos it does look like its layered black first. Its a skull white base, golden yellow, blood red, scorched brown, then selective chaos black.
I think I need to make the base of the flame the lightest as apposed to the inside.Sort of darkening as it goes out and up.

Oh ok. I guess it\'s the natural shadows which make it appear dark.

My most recent WIP... i\'ll try and get a more recent pic this weekend. Been a while since i took a pic of this guy. Please pay no attention to the 5.5 ranked monk... he\'s only in there for scale purposes... i have higher hopes for the giant.:D

Yeah... he\'s been posted before

He\'s a WarZone not-so-mini. Yeah, i got him pretty much figured out... been working on the flesh while thinking what i should do with the base. Isn\'t it a rule that giant bases have to have a dead body or something like that? i\'ll try and get a pic up soon... just found out i wont be here this weekend.

\'k... super quick pic, but you get the idea.
GiantWIP2.jpg

i\'m thinking;
black hair with blue highlights
bronse on his head with a steel screw
bone colored spikes... black base up to brown (more evil that way)
rust color and off white for the stone on his shoulder
Yellow pants (think deer skin)
copper on the left toe and the spikes are off the copper, not out of his foot
The skull on the right knee will look like bone

So i still need tube colors, shoe colors and the sword thingie around the right hand colors plus ideas for the base and, of course, better pictures.lol

i just realised this guy looks pretty cool if you save the picture and look at it in MS Paint with the magnefying glass.:wow:
