Work In Progress

VERY slowlylol

Well... it started out as a teeny tiny ball of GS. Then i attached it to the rock (crushed granite thanks to my trusty ball-peen hammer) and added the tail. Then sculpt a head on it, then the lower legs, then the arms, then the ears. But on such a small scale i really can\'t get much detail onto it. tried little claws on the four feet, but not even the tip of my hobby blade could get into the small spots. Anybody have tips for that?

Itchy - cheers, i think if you go any smaller your only option is a laser and a microscope, so i think its good how it is , and the detail obtained for such a small model is breathtaking.

Provoke me - Thanks, i just painted over the green paint, couldn\'t be bothered to strip it, the blue is about 2 parts regal blue to 1 part chaos black, highlighted up with bleached bone.

Brokenblade that bounty hunter is going to look very good I realy like the cape very smooth looking.

Itchy that mouse is cool, something I just cannot do is make anything other than a mess with green stuff.

That mouse looks great on the first pictures, but I have to say that in the lower one it looks like a miniature Barney :D Cool thing.

I am currently painting Ardokath when my time permits it - university plus buying a house equals lesser free time than I had hoped...
After doing Ardokath\'s armour, I want tell you all that I HATE FILIGREE. It was a real pain in the ass, but I think it looks quite alright... his skin is a mixture of Wolf Grey and Stone Grey, very lightly glazed with green, yellow and, in the deeper recesses, purple. On the picture his eyes look absolutely strange, but I have no idea why. They looks pretty normal actually; I did not paint a pupil or iris to emphasize that Ardokath is in fact undead.

Any comments would be most welcome...

since most of the filligree on his armour is made out of straight lines, it\'s pretty easy on this model IMO (when compared to Alahan swirls)

I think you just need some heavier washes to emphasise the filligree

here\'s my version of Ardokath:

Yup, washes will be repeated. I\'ll do my usual armour wash, starting with black, then a light wash of smoke, and for Ardokath maybe a light purple wash to tie the armour in with his... garment. Whatever it is that he wears.

Question

I want to start the weapons and want also to carry on the senmm theme on them. Now my question is would the senmm be a simple half and half split like the way the weapon on the left is marked or would each of the blades and indeed the hilt have their own reflective top and bottom. Like I have said this is all new to me so any advice on this would be great.

Tim - nice work! showing us all up again.... :p

I posted ages ago a techmarine I was working on, well, now I\'ve done the main body of him and all that needs doing now is the servo harness.

Klute: Used a needle to do the eyes and ears. It\'s just too small to get any bladed tool in there to make toes or much of any detail really, but viewed in real life it\'s pretty convincing. Can you use a needle to make digits?

Mosch: Looking good, maybe add a little tint of another color to the eyes? Slight purple wash, maybe green or yellow?

stef: Wow, that\'s really come along, looks great.

Tidoco: No clue at all... not the greatest at NMM of any kind, but i really enjoy looking at it, so post up plenty of WIP shots, even if it\'s just stuff you\'re stripping or repainting. It all just interests me.

Thanks guys.

Mark I kinda thought that that was the way to go but just wanteds clarification.

Stef I don\'t think I\'m showing anyone up especially not you judging by that techie.

Averlorn I realy like that and think that I may well do it along them lines, thanks.

Itchy cheers for the encouragement, this is my first serious attempt at it and however it turns out I\'ll stick with it as it is going to be put up on the Sacred Blade site when it is done.

Sorry to keep bombarding you all but your input is much appreciated.

stef: Looks great! the blues are very vibrant and everything seems more or less very smoothly blended. I\'m looking forward seeing it completed!

Tim: :) No problem. Keep on posting.. I like to both give an recieve input.

But the \"sand\" isn\'t grey, right? It should be more natural colour the closer it is to the subject.

I have to take back that statement.. I think it could be the exact opposite. :innocent: lol@me! Mixing grey into both the brown and grey highlights seem very appropriate as it is a metal and not an exact mirror reflection. It helps to remind of the underlying material. Look at Nejohos (don\'t remember the spelling.. neil hodgson IRL) exellent SENMM on the Tau battlesuit.

@Tim.......the mock up of Avalorns looks good but dont do the opposite diagonal colours on the top and bottom blades.Remember the faces poiting up will reflect sky and the bottom 2 faces earth on each blade.I will do a sketch.
