like the look of that vampire. not too sure about his jaw though - looks a little....rubbery? the back of the neck looks awesome though. quick question about busts - that one is, 60mm you say, is that normal bust size? i have never bought or seen one in the \'flesh\' before and wanted to try one

Hi guys, this is my Emporer\'s Childern Lord :) I had a Slaanesh Lord from WHF laying around and when I saw John Thompson\'s EC Lord I wanted to do something silimiar, altough I don\'t even play EC. I took quit some work, I think around 15 hours(damn snake body!) Just need to do some filling on the horn on the right shoulderpad and the tip of the tail and he/she is finished! On wensday I\'m getting good pics, so I\'ll put him/her on CMON then. He/She is really big, measuring around 10 cm for the top of the banner to the base:D

Cheers Tom,yes there will be additions and Ive had at it with the exacto tonight too to dampen down the cartoon look.

@freakinacage......Im not exactly sure about traditional bust sizes:eek:Im just messing about really.I painted the Sacred Blade barbarian one and I think he is 100mm scale??As far as I know size isnt a set thing as long as scale on the bust is kept the same.?

@Demon hunter.that looks real impressive.

@ NSA the plinth is an old Forgeworld city pillar that long since got chopped up for some other project and all that was left was the base and I just attatched it to a 40mm round base supplied with the mini and a bit of sand and there you go.

@ ralfmetal, I know what you mean I have tried different things this time all of them for the first time and I look at it everyday and get soooooooo tempted to dunk it in brake fluid and start again. I will try and resist the temptation as I do like the way it is looking.

Tim, the SENMM on the vertical blades just doesn\'t look quite right. The reflections should travel the length of the blades, not across - the transition needs to be a little softer and I\'d change the tones on one half of the blades - make them darker on one side.
This is the closest thing I could find to what you are trying to achieve:

DON\'T dunk it! - The rest of the model is superb. The gold looks great. You\'ve got a similar pallette on this one to your Brettonian bust and it works a treat!!

Thanks Mark and Scott, I am going to leave the blades as they are for now. The problem with them is they have not come out in the cast very well and the apecies are not level on each of the blade. What perhaps I should have done is remove the blades top and bottom but as this is for SB then I had to try and do it as cast. I may well go back to them at a later date but I have tasks piling up and need to get tis finished soon. Both your points of view are sound and I will keep them in mind.

Sorry for the dark pic, again I\'m getting real pics on wendsday, instead of these scans. I tried to sculpt a nurgly belly and armour that bursted open under the pressure of the growing belly. Do you think I succeded?

@Demon hunter,,,,from the pic its looks like you have got the concept onto the figure OK

@Scott and Tim....Scott,totally agree with the vertical blend but if you look further back at the primed blade it has a definite line across the centre showing it thicker in the middle.This to me shows the bottom bit angles down(earth) and the top angles up(sky).Surley the vertical blend like you mention would only be on a complete surface without a change of angle.Ive just been reading some Vallejo books and in it he says he paints things as we believe they should look and not nesscesseraly(sp?) how they do look.I think its usually best to apply this to mini painting as well.

I like the idea of changing the tones to simulate the ambient lighting.

Well here it is (errors in the blades aside) finished and ready to be removed from the plastic lid to have the pose corrected (hopefully without incident). I love this sculpt but it will be some time before I do nmm or senmm for that matter again.

I\'m sorry I could not possibly tell you where or what you should do to improve this mini it is already way beyond my talent and I think like I said in your other thread you should finish it.

Great work guys.

@Albert......yeh he looks great.I like all the colourations you use.I know you were concerned about the metalics,and the roughness.They do look kind of grainy but I think it looks really good and in fitting with the figure.What I would do is use a bright silver(I have a super bright enamel chrome) to pick out some light source spots on the very corners of a few plates.Like nmm pure white light sources.I think this would give it a bit more shine and enhance the metals.
