A space marine, that\'s what I did first, 2 years ago 12 years old :D I think it\'s the perfect start... big flat areas, easy to highlight and yeah. Not much hard detail.

A space marine is indeed a good choice, but it must be something she feels like painting. Otherwise she might get bored. A simple orc warrior could also be a good start.

I actually don\'t find space marine that easy to highlight corectly. I mean round shoulder pads aren\'t that easy. I\'d probably go with a bsic fantasy orc or spearman not to much detail on these guys.

I think the new plastic chaos warriors are funny to paint , no predefinited color scheme, a quite lot of different things to paint and nice particulars but not too much tiny to break the nerves of a neophite.

well i had a look on the games workshop site and was thinking about 1 of the new high elves, lots of flat areas large ish face, a chance to try drybrushing, blending, highlighting all in 1 mini? how about that guys?

(she started on a gondor soldier lol! you cant really get much smaller without going to epic scale, and she had loadsa fun)

Well as spacemunki\'s speciality is base I though I might just go ahead and give a proper base. Plus I actually have probleme doing base so this was a good modelling experience for futur projects :p

comical! he supposed to look evil! ok he does look comical at the mo but once i\'m done, you\'ll all be really scared, honest. he is 9cm from chin to crown at the mod but i\'m not sure where to finish him. should i sculpt a breast plate or just his neck armour. hmmm

I would go with the full chest piece. That way he will be more easily recognized as a space marine. He is a space marine right?

Well it has been a little while so here is my current WIP,

Orc1.jpg

It is not finished by a long way and the dark skin tone will probably end up getting changed.
It is another Bob Olley orc I have ten of these b*****s to do in various poses. Intend to do a unit shot of them when they are complete. They may even end up on e-bay.

@ Aragorns_Mate, thanks you seen the New Eldar wave serpent that GW is not far off releasing, looks cool to me.

@ frenchkid if I was you I would loose that lichen it just doesn\'t sit right with the rest of the model. Apart from that looking good.

humm yeah I\'m not a big fan of those moss but that\'s all I had at the moment and though I might as well try it out. What do you sugest I replace it with ? Just static grass or put a few rocks up. I\'ll take a complete pic with moss and then I\'ll se about changing it in case somthing goes wrong.

Here it is

Here\'s a pic of the mini with the infamous lichen, dosn\'t look that bad I think. But I still will be changing it as soon as I have the time. (school starting again:()Well anyway this as been a good learning experience in doing dioramas or more complex bases ( yeah I know it\'s abit big ;))
