Really? More of a call for ichthyologists? It\'s funny; because I never pursued it because there was no work in ichthyology. Those that I had spoken to all ended up working on trout or koi farms.

Mind you, it was many years later that I had opportunity to work with an ichthyologist who was tracking whale sharks. A hell of a guy, but he smelt of fish.

I might be one of those arseholes, Mike. For me, IT lost credibility when every Tom, Dick and Harry with a MCSE or MCwhatever thought they knew it all. The people who truly did know their stuff got a bad reputation, even while paying big money (and learning almost nothing) for a valueless certification in order to stay ahead. I\'m not sure whether our rant is the same, or whether we\'re at opposite corners. :)

:flame: /Rant over.

Sorry about that. I feel much better now. :D

When I was at university it was the IT staff who were the stuck up arseholes! Swings and roundabouts I guess.

:D

And I still love/hate my job :D

Sturm, I get this feeling that everything in your life is a love/hate relationship. ;)
So what\'s you job anyway? Or do we have to guess?

@ Dauber and Airhead- Must be nice to get paid to be here. Got any applications for posting freaks?

@ RedDawn - apparently we are long lost twins seperated at birth. Am I the good or evil one? (and sure we can go to the barns when you visit, no problem!)

@Wiccanpony- I was thinking of you when I wrote the original posting, that you\'d only of the few to appreciate it! That\'s a reall cutie you have there!

@ TAB- at least your ouside work is already in a place where it warm. I can wait for winter here, with blowing snow and frozen water buckets, ugh!

@ Airhead again- Nope, The young college ladies do their own saddling and riding. And grooming and bathing--- of thier horses! Maybe this should go in the Innuendo thread....hmm..

I HATE my job!!! Fencing is the most exhausting and repetitive job in the world. The only thing that ever changes is the weather, from pissing rain to scorching hot. All do is pound row after row of posts into the ground with a 80ish pound chunk of metal, or nail mile after mile of boards onto said posts. And to top it off my boss can can be the most condicending childish person you have ever met. He has never fired a single person in his entire career. Every one of his former employees has quit. I really want to do something else but the problem is I just don\'t know where to begin, and I\'m scared to go out on a limb and then get stuck

I had job that was an absolute hell-hole. I was scared to leave for the same reason you stated. Finally the disgust got the best of me and I punched out for lunch one day and that was the end of that job. I literally wept upon leaving. I was scared of not finding another job and overjoyed to have the nightmare end. Sometimes you just gotta take the plunge. Everything worked out fine. I found another job almost without trying.

@Duende - I\'m definitely the evil twin - just ask Grumb! :D

@WP - good looking horse! I used to show one that looked like yours, but was even more chestnut/brown. My cousin used to say she\'d get lost in a crowd of two because she didn\'t have a speck of white on her. lol

:D RedDawn...that was the late, great \"Tuff Cookies\" aka. Tuffy, yellow dun QH gelding...finest little (14 hands) trail horse that was ever foaled, passed away at the ripe age of 30. I do miss the little bugger:(

@ Wiccanpony- we certainly have a thing for Quarter Horses! Here\'s a old pic of my little (14.1 hands) mare, Canjo. I had her waaaaay back when I was 16 and still miss her to this day.

@ Red Dawn- I don\'t know.. I think I could qualify as the evil twin, ...maybe we\'re just \"bad\" and \"worse\" lol

@ Dauber - Well, Wilson college used to be an all girls school but they do accept male students now (to be PC of course), but I\'d say 99% of them are girls.. maybe you should consider enrolling??

That is another bonus to being a college employee, a tuition waiver if I want to take classes! But oh, what to choose?? So many courses look interesting...

Ok, here\'s my little ole mare:

:D Duende...a very nice little mare you had, I prefer the “old type”, small but quick with some brains...the modern QH’s topping out at 16 hands with washer woman butts and ballerina hoofs aren’t worth the feed.

Speaking of feed, what do you feed at your stables??
I’ve always boarded at a military stable and they are into pinching pennies.. Pellets, Am and Hay Cubes, Pm.

I’d buy my own Timothy grass hay so Tuff could have something to chew on during the day ( the fat fart could live on air).

And oddly enough, I understood every word!:D

@ Wiccanpony- Well, the college stables aren\'t so stingy, the horse get AM grain (either pellets or sweet feed depending on needs) along with regular baled timothy hay, then a lunch of some more hay, then dinner of grain again and hay. No skinny horses here, of course, they are mostly tall breeds to begin with, a lot of thoroughbreds, the \"appendix\" QH\'s which are the tall ones you mentioned, along with some drafter crossbreeds and warmbloods (Hanovarians, Trakhaners and such). Below is a pictue of Archie, a full Percheron.

But my Canjo, was a \"tradtional\" QH, she was bred and born in Oklahoma as cutting and reining horse. I got her when she was 18 years old but she was still a spry ole gal!
