awcho this is an amazing work of art, I like everything about the model the detail is great and the effect you have gotten into the wing membranes is just superb. I would like to see a shot of the base though.

Awacho..........that is amazing.

I\'d love to see a tutorial on how you got that amazing metal effect on the creatures helm

Goodness! This possibly is the best painted Lord of the Rings miniature I\'ve ever seen! Congratulations, Awcho, you\'ve done a great job.

some more....

After about a week of slacking, I did some more work on my Engine of the Gods...

DSC02235.jpg

So what I have learned...well, I\'ve learned that I suck at this :D . I think I will have a problem with the last layer of thin apoxysculpt where I put details since the rough layers I got now are too thick. I will sand the model down a lot around the belly, and tail when the main form is done. I am happy with the forearms and the rear right leg but the rear left is a bit larger due to a..uhm..pipe running thru it, to protect the wires (which u can see coming out of the leg in one of the pics).

This morning before work, i removed the glass sphere and rubber stopper and put plasic bag to protect the coil.

As you can kinda see, I made a slight miscalc with the blue ring & coil. It\'s too high on the sides and front. Sooo....since I was gonna put stone/metallic armour/stuff on the back (similar to the GW Engine in the Lustria book, but hopefully better once done. I will extend the armour lower than I had wanted, and then put holes in it and glue larger spikes/horns. This should make it appear like the back of the dino has tons of long bone spikes/plates on it, and that the engine is mounted right on it\'s back so the armour had to take those spikes into account. I think I can still pull it off; I hope i can at least.

Still not sure to do about the details though on the skin.

I\'ve done the nostrils as well and will do more work tonite. Games Day england 2005 is 2 months away :( :( :( I am so screwed... hehe :D

I\'ve thought of a way to incorporate freehand into the model as well (lizardmen do not use banners, use metal/stone totems so people normally do not paint freehand art on them, so that they fit the mayan/aztec theme of the lizardmen) but as I want this for a contest entry, since my painting isn\'t as good as well...any other golden demon entry, I need to pull out all the stops as far as I can push it in the last couple months. I hope that idea works out. Won\'t mention it here though :p

Ideas are just popping thru my head now and I want to do all of them... this will not be a fun last 7 or so weeks...

I\'m actually hoping for some big emergency at work that causes me to need to work later for a few days, to earn some leui time so that I can take some days off to paint in august or that i get a slight illness, again to let me stay at home, to get more work on it done.

Please post any comments...good, bad, etc ...

(if u post bad ones though, please provide a *tissue* to stop me from crying :D :D :D)

btw: the last batch of WIP pics people posted, sorry, can\'t remember submitters names, but awesome (espec the witchking). Tid...That minotaur is damn buff... looks nice..Is it confrontation? looks to stylized to be GW and too big to be reaper.

Spex - I can\'t tell if it\'s the natural room light or the paint on the mini. I think the skin needs another glaze or wash to get it a bit more defined and maybe a smaller lighter hilite on it? Where\'s professor Klute when u need him? :) hehe Are you going to add freehand to the clothes thing in the front? Poor thing...you ripped off it\'s head :( :(

@awcho : really great piece, I have finished my own version of this model several days ago but it looks nothing like yours :s how did you take such great pics? I can\'t get anything focussed when taking shots of this beast.

that engine of the gods looks amazing ! how many hours have you put into that allready?

here is my latest WiP, a new addition to my mordheim warband.

!!!

Mordred..

:O

The fur cape/coat is awesome... !!!!

Time..not sure...prob way longer than it should be from redoing stuff...cutting parts and changing the structure several times as it was already done that section. Also friend helping to rewire the circuit board, etc...prob 12 to 15 hours. The planning, measurements, math ratios for sizing compared to other models took a while too...since I wasn\'t sure on pose, etc.

Here\'a a WIP of a miniature that might be interesting for all because it comes from Ilyad Games a pretty new brand of miniatures based in France.
I have received it for the Miniature Exchange 4 (Thanks Cédric - Grenn Stuff)

First of all the scale... it\'s a 30mm miniature but is pretty huge as you can see here, compared with a GW Mordhwim miniature:

Today I have painted the face, it took me all the day because it\'s really detailed and I have tryed to do my best on it:

Any suggestions about the work so far?
Next step probably will be the chain mail, I will paint it in plain metal paint, brass probably to have some contrast withthe steel parts (I still have to shade and highlight the metal parts).

@Talion- I haven\'t put together a formal tutorial yet (it\'s sort of on my to do list), but I do have a description of how I painted the helm on my website:
http://home.earthlink.net/~delbertcho/id8.html

@tidoco- you caught me on the base :D I originally planned to make this model a relatively quickly painted gaming piece. So I painted the figures on the base with metallics and very few layers. But the Fell beast sculpt was just too cool to just paint quickly. I kept getting different ideas I wanted to try out.

Eventually I\'ll need to change the base to NMM to match the fell beast I suppose.

That face is looking great Paolo! I had no idea these minis were so huge! Different colored metals will definately make him \'pop\' out. Good stuff.

@starfrye...um...WOW. thats very cool!

@Mordred - that figure is looking really excellent! I really like the skin tones, and the fur coat, and his eyes.

Not really a change

But I think some tattoos on his face would rock, like war paint. Would you consider adding some freehand on him? :)

Had a couple of days off painting coz of work, but now I\'m back to it again the minotaur is very nearly done so no more pics of that until it is finished.
I have also started this chap that I recieved from Sakura as part of ME#4,

This is a very fiddly mini to do very finely detailed. I am going for the just out of the ground look and think it is looking ok at the moment. I still need a couple more highlights and then a couple of weathering washes to finish off the bone. What do you all think.
