no problem just make sure u post them from begining to finish :D puersonaly i love seeing wips... sugestion before hand i dont know how to hihglight white (well darken it... im asuming a grey would work?) however for the gol highlight it with silver and blend the 2 together in the middle gives a nice efect. aslo depending on the gol you may wish to coat it with a thin wash of ikne (i know you should for the GW gold altho i havnt used others) this will stop it from looking like a peice of tinfoil. lol

Thank you all for the kind welcome and words about my model, I have taken your advice about the eyes, and have finished it now with a little freehand on the cloak at the back (not overly happy with it, but I have GD projects I need to get on with :))

Anyway, here is a pic of the finished model:

@g_k: That\'s looking really nice. The face is great, and the chainmail also looks good. I like the freehand on the back as well, but you may want to try highlighting/shading it a bit more. As for the eyes, maybe making the iris a bit bigger and putting a white dot in the middle for reflection.

Yeah, i\'ve seen the chalk art they did... around europe i think. Did some old master works as well if i remember correctly. i\'m just hoping i\'m not held to their standards, \'casue that\'d be bad for my comments:plol

I seem to have finally gotten motivated again, and have been painting every day. So, I have finally started back up on the Conan/Frost Giant\'s Daughter diorama - this is the dead giant on the base. Still have to do the hair, skin, horns on the helm, and axe handle. The picture is a bit washed out from all the white on the base. Conan will be standing between the legs, and once he is in there those 2 rocks at the feet will be connected into one ledge that the giant has just fallen from as Conan has sliced his throat with his sword - the neck and that mangled area of armor will have blood flowing from them.

GAH!!!

*jaw drops at these UK GD WIPs....I\'m competing with that?*

hehe :)

Nice horse..do the red feather thing on the tip need some hilites?

Are you going to hilite the freehand a bit (the green) to take into account the raised and lower portions of the cloak thing on the horse?

*pets the horsey* :D

G_K - sweet! very nice freehand on back. How did you make that base?

Primeval - kinda early but cool so far. How high is that ledge? wondering, you may want to add droplets/splatters of blood on other areas of the base, to exemplify the fight they just had. not sure if it would look good though...

Don\'t worry, there will be plenty of blood :)

I have been working on my LOTR Boromir diorama a little more over the last couple of days, I would love to enter this into UKGD but the fact that the base is of a private manufacturer I do not think it would be allowed. Anyway here is the latest,

BoromirCompletedFrontonBase.jpg

and here is a WIP one of the half dozen or so Warriors of Minas Tirith that will adorn the base,

GondorianSoldier1WIP1.jpg

add to that one or two dead Orcs and some detritus on the floor and a ladder so that Boromir isn\'t stuck there forever and you have the general idea.

Yeah, I totally forgot to highlight that red thingy at the front, noticed it right after I\'d washed the paints off the pallette! :(

I tried highlighting the thorn pattern toward the raised areas at first, but screwed up and thought *oh, sod it!*. I may go over it again if I have time.

@seb
Looks very nice so far! I was going to mention the red whatever-you-call-those-things. Also, the mane and tail could use some more attention.

Wow, that\'s a nice looking horse. Cant wait to see it finished with the rider.

Nice diorama WIPs too. Both look like there\'ll really tell the story nicely. How do you guys talk yourself up for those long haul projects?

I have always preferred to just focus on bringing a single figure to life, but when a client proposed this diorama I got pretty excited about it as I planned it. I don\'t see myself doing many of them, but I am enjoying seeing it come to life as I go :)

Reaper Gargoyle/demon thing and slaughterman again

Latest work is a reaper gargoyle which was crying out for greenstuff horns!

I\'ve finished the skin tone (i think) the rest is just basecoated.

The figure is resting on a kind of upthrust of rock, so i\'ve modelled him here as a demon being summoned and bursting up through the slabs on the pavement. The shadow skin tone is deliberately the same as the outcrop of rock he\'s sat on- I\'m trying to show he\'s kind of at one with the ground(?)

Back of wings need some work, but i was chuffed (UK expression for pleased) with the highlighting on the skin and front of the wings - especially how they lighten towards the upper points.

Suggestions for improvement very welcome. (I also hope i\'ve satisfied those of you who quite rightly said i needed to take better pics!?!!

Finally i added some finishing touches and a bit of rework to my earlier mini...

I worked on his face and mouth a bit. The bag is greenstuff made, and the cat from a wargods of Aegyptus mini. I figured you couldn\'t be a proper villian without having a Blofeld cat!

Have a question...

I tried following Klute\'s skin tutorial (after the fact) to paint a mini and it doesn\'t look good at all - at least to me.

My question is - can I post it here to get some help or should I resurrect Klute\'s Skin thread and post it there? I\'m afraid if I post it just to the Skin thread that people who weren\'t involved won\'t comment and I basically need all the help I can get! :D

So, what should I do?

Thanks!

EDIT: Well, it\'s a moot point now anyway. I just found the Skin Up thread and it\'s been closed so I guess I\'ll be posting my crappy paint job here! lol
