I\'m going to plan to go, and just see what happens. Not sure where I will be in 2011. But i\'l have my tent so costs should be kept low.

Peace and love...

@Alex - Per day it was like $220-250 including resturants, randomness, and the hotels (which were fairly nice as it wasn\'t purely an expo trip, it was both Spain and the UK with my dad).

Couple of updates to this

There are now dates for the event
The dates are 19,20,21 August

And there is a website up with a couple of basic details about Montreux
http://www.we2011.com/

So with that done I think it\'s time to get a list of who will be going
Can\'t start these things too early lol lol

You don\'t need to be a vampire in order for a stake through the heart to seriously mess up your travelling plans! :p

Actually, I think all of Europe can fit inside Canada.. land wise....it certainly should if you re-arrange the countries a bit.

Wow...so pleased I caught this thread so early on. I missed the last expo - I had no idea it was so popular. 2011 means there is a lot of time to save up which is great.

I\'d certainly be interested in knowing about hotels etc, so if anyone has any info I\'d be grateful. I will of course see what I can find out myself - I want to make sure that there is plenty of opportunity to meet up with people and take part in any socialising of course!! :D

If the Swiss organisation is half as good as the Spanish one for the 2008 World Expo they will post info on hotels on their site plenty of time before the event.

And, World Expo is undoubtedly THE best miniature event you can possibly imagine, so the popularity is warranted. :)

Husband gave the ok. Then we\'ll check out Italy afterwards. :)

Hmm, camping might not be a bad idea...

I\'m in! I allready started saving. Euro\'s are the currency to be saving? I\'m ignorant of Switzerland. All I know is they make cheese, and it\'s where the bad guys hide their money. And the stupid Von Trapp family wanted to go their by fleeing Austria and travelling North. So If I follow their directions I will definetely be there.

I\'m getting drunk as hell, who else rides the booze train to paradise mountain onthese kinds of trips? If we find the right establishment we could fight a world war using booze from our home country.

And the painting thing should be fun too.

Can\'t wait. Only 15 more sleeps till world expo 2011!

Nope, Switzerland is not even part of the EU. Swiss francs is the currency.

There were some drinking of alcoholic beverages in the evenings during last WE, yes. :] And the occasional beer during the days...

well i hope everyone makes it. along with the astounding quality of the entries, it was the great social aspect that made it worth it (and adie running around everywhere like an excited puppy!)

i need to talk more about hotels as it took me a few days to realise i was staying on the floor below rob and anders!
