I played EQ, hardcore, like Raid leader of the servers top guild, 2 characters at once on 2 computers (both clerics, leading healing strategies as well ). We beat Time (which was the top zone at the time) and I quit, cold turkey, just walked away one day and never went back because it took up most of my life.

It was at that point I got back into painting and decided to focus on that instead, which is where I think I got a lot of my energy to really push my abilities. In the end it worked out well, but it really took over for a while. I swore I would never touch another game like that, and I stand by that now, too many other good things going in my life right now

So I\'m a big no on this poll!

See, that\'s serious, 2 boxing = addicted. I never played any other game of this type, not sure how it compares, but I take weeks off at a time. You can be a casual player for WOW, just all depends on how competitive you are...

During the week I try to do small quests, such as collect x of y or kill x of y. I usually play two or three evenings, for 1-2 hours on weekdays. In the weekends I usually play two nights of 3 hours playtime, and then I do elite quests and dungeons.

So for me, this doesn\'t take up much more time than my pre-wow gaming schedule. And also I think this game is really suited for casual gamers.

Unfortunately I suffer from addictive behaviours towards activities (computers, gaming, sex), I will do things to the exclusion of anything else, previous addictions include: MtG, Dune 2, eBay and now WOW. By addictive I mean I\'ll stay up all night playing and then fall asleep at work. Luckily I don\'t have an addictive personality towards substances (other than choclate) or I\'d be in real trouble...

Currently the servers are down for maintenance, aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh meeeeeeeep

I play and enjoy WoW, but I don\'t have an account of my own; I simply borrow a friend\'s from time to time. I\'d like to have my own account, but GW keeps sucking my money away.

Hm - just to be more specific, I agree you definitely need groups for instance dungeons, but you can solo way past your mid-20\'s in terms of just levelling. I\'ve gotten my Warlock almost to 50 almost 100% soloing, and ditto for my 37 mage....

I\'ve been avoiding playing MMORPG\'s since my days of MUDs and EQ. I get too little sleep as it is, and I\'m a pretty entrenched member of the \"obsessive\" group. WoW may be one of the few that I\'m actually interested in, as it sounds like you can pick it up and put it down gamewise without getting left in the dust as bad as EQ. Since I do theatre, there are stretches of weeks where I really have very little time, so it may work.

You can solo all the way to 60, easily.

Here is my profile. Kind of pathetic coming from someone who just claimed that you can solo to 60 easily, but I only ever played for like 2-3 weeks, and not heavily (like I normally am with games)

I couldn\'t have said it better. With all the classes and work I have right now, it would be a death sentence to start right now for sure. It looks amazing!!! Maybe a bit too amazing for what I can handle right now.

Few other 5-10th level chars on this and other servers, but I doubt I\'ll play any of them much.

I don\'t see how its expensive, it costs what Au$40 for 2 months, a warhammer boxed set costs ~$50. Compared to minis its phenominally cheap, especially seeing as I actually play WOW, wheras 90% of my minis are unpainted and 60% are in a different country on the other side of the world.

To each their own. For my own part I always thought that Evercrack was a waste of time and that I would never pay for a game beyond the original purchase price.
However, my son purchased WOW and I started a character on his account ( hey HE was paying for it.)
I found that, unlike all of the other games I was playing, there wasnt alot of hackers in it, In my time playing, I have seen maybe two hackers in WOW and reported them both. I got the satisfaction of seeing the GM take immediate action in the game. What a cool idea.
Also if I do have a game related issue, having online support directly IN the game has helped alot.

I might have to rethink my \"Evercrack\" ideas in the future.

Yes, maybe..

But in WoW, you\'re paying to be allowed to play. Warhammer is something you buy, paint and keep to play with (And i never said that warhammer was cheap, but that\'s a hobby, WoW is just addictive.)

what does a night in a movie theatre cost? an hour of sports in a fitness club? a few games of snooker in a bar?

you have got to compare the amount of time spent with the amount of money paid, and then I think WoW is a very cheap hobby
