Worst Mistake?

I\'ve done the usual stabbing with an exacto blade, gluing of fingers, etc etc.. But the worst mistake is buying more miniatures than I paint. I have stopped this habit, and now only buy miniatures if it comes with the game.. I have a lot of work ahead of me =)

Similar to Eric. I was cutting up jalapeno\' peppers and chased a booger with my finger. Ya know, the inside of the nose is real sensetive to hydrochloric acid.

In my short miniatures career, I have managed to jab myself once with my knife. However, the tip of the knife is dull, so it didn\'t penetrate my finger.

I am very cautious.

I actually ate super glue. I was holding the mini in one hand, and the glue in the other. The only way to open the tube was to use my teeth. That was the easy part. Put the top back on lead to me miss it and going into my mouth and getting it on my tongue. My wife died laughing and called to tell all of our friends.

Yeah. She says she loves me.lol

I just thought of another.

A friend glues his hand to his work desk. He had a little super glue on his fingers.:D

I bought a box of old resin \"space marine\" figures (don\'t know who made them) in a closing down sale last year.

They came attached by their bases to a sprue frame like ordinary plastics and I used my normal method of release - holding the frame and pushing the figure with my thumb. Unfortunately I didn\'t realise how brittle the resin was and the litlle b*@@%r snapped off at the knees leaving two sharp stumps that gouged nice deep grooves in my thumb -Ouch!

Needless to say the lot went into the bin after that! - some bargain!

I still have nightmares about my worst mistake  it will haunt me to my dying day. Anyway moving on, I had just finished painting a mounted High Elf hero and I was extremely happy with it, I had yet to glue the torso to the legs so I got the super glue and began to apply it to the legs, the superglue then decided to gush out and completly cover the legs. I then put the legs into a pot of water thinking this might wash of the superglue, boy how I was wrong, the water made the glue go off quicker and thus the legs where ruined. I cryed for at least a week :(.

At least you now know what NOT to do next time. Water actually helps me - spray on models to act as an accelerator for super glue.

seems like I\'ve been pretty lucky with my mistakes so far, I havent hurt myself except for some minor scrathes with a modelling knife:) Those bone-deep cuts sound really nasty  I guess the biggest accident I\'ve had was when I was just starting the hobby, putting together my second box of minis, a space marine squad - the plastic ones. I was using superglue.
The lid of the dropper had jammed, so I pulled it off with speed and power that greatly exceeded the need and spattered glue on my shirt and on the floor. I managed to get the floor drops with paper, but then I smelled something weird. It was my precious Offspring Smash t-shirt, that had started to melt in the bottom part. The glue burned two about 2-3cm holes in it :( I still use it as a gym shirt, and besides those holes it\'s still in very good condition, even as it\'s a little over ten years old. I haven\'t gotten around to throw the shirt away because Smash was the second cd I got, and I still occasionally like to listen to it :)

It\'s not too bad, but I was cutting the flash off a Wolfen and mistook something for flash. Turned out to be a deltoid muscle, so now I have to mold him a new one.

Oh, I do have an injury story. Typicall cutting plastic from sprue, knife finally goes through and the follow-through is much longer than expected, hitting the other hand that was 8 inches away in the \"safe\" zone. Short of it is I have a 1-inch scar on my knuckle with a small scar on the other side of my finger where the blade came back out.

Ever gotten jalapeno juice in your eye? I worked at a fast food joint once where we served individual jalapenos. You had to be really careful cleaning out the containers at closing time!

Okay, not mini-related, but I already told my disaster stories on another thread. Tipping the ink bottle into my paint bin, mistaking primer for sealer, etc. And then there\'s the story of my friend\'s superglue disaster...

lol
