Hm, let me put my foot in it and state that universities are schools for higher-learning, and not just for vocational training - there are colleges for that. So, I\'m doing a BSc in maths and applied maths, nothing else, just mathematics. Of what use does that make me? Hm, not too much. Luckily I\'m already qualifed elsewhere.
So, if that dumb wench wants a PhD in Performing Arts (I presume) with her air guitar crap... well, a university is the place to do it. She\'ll likely get a job in the university teaching performing arts. I really can\'t see how a PhD could possibly be awarded for that, but that\'s the university\'s decision.
As for the weirdos remaining on as professors in physics, I reckon they\'re so damned intelligent that they just can\'t cope with the outside world. So focused on what they\'re doing that they can\'t even tie their show-laces. They\'re probably amongst the most emotionally immature people anyone is likey to meet too. So, there\'s one conclusion I make; rather have them advancing science and teaching people than in the padded cells they might otherwise end up in.
Still, PhD in the air guitar... what a waste of time, energy, money and space. Stupid wench.
