Hi Everyone!
I'd like to share some pictures from my miniatures workbench, A.K.A the dining table... (sorry to my g.f. she's lamenting we now have to eat dinner on the couch, but needs must!)
Just now getting back into painting, after a year's absence. Looks like a few of my 10 year old paint pots have finally dried up. How could you Ultramarines Blue! I never even opened you and just this year you've decided to solidify?
Anyway, it all started with a massacre...

... a sight I hope never to see when they reach the battlefield. This has been my first experience with resin finecast. Being a die-hard metal fan (I even avoided plastics where possible) I was initially skeptical about the substance, but it's not nearly as brittle as I thought.
So yes, I did go mental and clipped out 40 warriors in one sitting!

Bit of sculpting to do here, some will need more than others. A clay shaper was handy for smooth cloth areas.
And on to the painting! I was a bit concerned my old can of Chaos Black spray would dissolve the resin. It certainly dissolves greenstuff, so I had carefully painted all the green areas with some ordinary pot paint. Couldn't be bothered to do a test on a piece of resin sprue (I think I'm getting stupider as time goes on) threw caution to the wind and resolved that if the spray dissolved the resin I would just buy new ones.
As it happens all was good and I moved on to painting the eyes and flesh. I'm always trying to look for shortcuts. This time I realised if I paint all the whites of the eyes first, then go back and do all the pupils I don't have to swap from black to white paint so much.
I tried to vary the skin tones as much as possible, building up from bases of Emperor's Children (pink) and Red Gore (dark red) a 10 year old pot I revived with water.

Anyway, here are the results so far. Love to know what you think!

Just love the moral ambiguity of these miniatures. I could easily imagine them fighting the Laketown Guards, selling each other out, corruption. There's a lot of possibilities here...
