You guessed it, another Warrior Priest Project Log!

I\'ve always said the best compliment I could hope for would be to inspire someone :D

Painting feet was tough, they weren\'t exactly the same quality of sculpting I\'m used to lol I think it turned out okay though. They painted up a bit better than I thought they would. So it was a Degra sculpt huh? I\'ll be sure to get it right when I post the mini for voting!

BTW it doesn\'t show well in the pics, but the one shoulder pad is a slightly oxidized coppery kind of color. Maybe I\'ll take a pic from another angle later to show it off better :)

We\'re talking about this sculpt: http://www.coolminiornot.com/142485 ?

BTW: What washes did you use exactly?

I alternated between thinned down Black Ink, Tamiya Clear Orange, and Scorched Brown washes as I saw fit... there was no solid pattern for the washes.

I\'m painting with my buddy Tom tonight, so I\'ll hope to finish him over there :D Any work since the last pic is negligible. Honestly it was just a little bit of work to try and coax the phone to ring... you always get a phone call when you first sit down to paint ;)

Not sure i like the bare feet on this model. Surely if you have that lovely suit of armour you\'d have boots as well? Having said that, the execution of the sculpt and the painting is superb, so two thumbs up there.

Digging the metallics like everyone else!

I didn\'t finish the guy, but I got a lot of pesky little things out of the way ;) Bone, parchment, bags, rivets finally looking the way I want them.

Pretty much the face and perhaps a bit of freehand on the big back parchment and he\'ll be ready for varnish. Tiny bit of gold on the hammers too I suppose...

A fun combination of lazy and busy (researching, sketching and Photoshopping on some freehand designs that I\'m tempted to try on the model) has kept me from taking any pics, and it\'s way too late tonight ;) Whether or not I find time to finish the guy off Sunday I\'ll post some pics first chance I get during the day.

Uhoh, I just closed Photoshop without saving the concept work. All I have is a tiny 1.5\" version I printed off (and the colors printed out gimpy)... well I\'m glad I put so much work into it, there might be enough muscle memory to get me by in lieu of full sized reference material :)

<edit> OK I took some pics finally!

The gold and red spots are new, and most of the trouble spots on the robes have been redone.

Pretty much just the face, his one forearm and the handles of the hammers... I\'m thinking I\'ll just hilight the black and do the rivets silver. Maybe gold trim for the metal rim around the handles... we\'ll see :D Gold is quick to do, so if it doesn\'t turn out so hot it can always become silver later!

Wow, Dan! That\'s awesome! You\'re a pretty awesome guy! I wish I could paint like that instead of getting 5.4\'s all the time. Maybe all the Elves that I\'ve painted over the years have simply currupted me beyond all hope of rehabilitation. Must be it.

BTW I like painting things green, only green. And Boltgun Metal. I like that too :D

now this may sound odd.. but that was not me, I had my account active at dan\'s house earlier today and the cookie monster is trying to abuse this fact. morale of the story is that while I do paint most things green and boltgun metal, and the warrior priest does look awesome, it was not me in the previous post.

Thankyou,

The real Tom

That was a lot less fun than I expected lol With such a weak response I don\'t know for sure if you\'ve even learned your lesson about logging out before you leave.

Oh wait, I\'m probably still logged into your Deviant Art account, I could change that too :p

Great looking mini - I feel really inspired to convert and paint one of these figures myself. Thanks for sharing!
Looking forward to seeing it finished...

Yay, once again one of my painting heroes seems to like what I\'m doing :D Hopefully he won\'t shame me by making one that looks three times as good lol

Anyway I managed to get really bogged down with a research assignment this Sunday, it\'s currently 4am and I\'m waking up early to polish it off in the morning. This was not part of the plan! Minimal progress since the last photo... nothing worth taking/editing pics over really. Just the first bit of work on the remaining metallics and the handles.
