Easily the best warrior priest WIP I have seen on here by far (including my own!:redface

Fantastic stuff, I really like the feet and there is nothing I dislike regarding the painting, a cool, original non carbon copy GW paint scheme too.

Look forward to seeing this one finished.

(I\'m gonna treat myself to another one of these guys and convert him too after seeing your work!)

I basically kept doodling a particular image from the old Mordheim rulebook, actually a Sisters of Sigmar painting (the Warrior Priests have a serious hate on for these lovely hammer-wielding ladies). There\'s a scroll/banner type thing in the picture with a big calligraphic S with some cool borders and whatnot.

I basically kept drawing it over and over until I had it \"just right\" then Photohsopped it onto the scroll on his back. I hit print and closed the program, only to realise the image was smaller than I realised. And the file wasn\'t saved.

Until I get off my bum and do the dreaded freehand job, I can\'t do much better than this vague description

The other scrolls on the guy will just get the little brown scribble treatment. Not really big enough for anything else.

Dave: You gonna paint the same one? I love this guy so much, and now I can\'t wait to paint the fat one in the hoodie I didn\'t like him at first but I think he\'s cooler than I first realised. He just needs a much cooler hammer, that\'s all!

Should be about an hour or so for the finished product at this point. Just a bracer, belt and the face

Very nice detail on the back... just wat it needed.Just dont mess up the face foo... lso I see you worked on the back of the cloak.. looks a hell of a lot better. Now finish it dude :cussing:

Hehe I shall My back\'s feeling 100% for the first time in weeks (praise the Lord!) and I think I can actually get away with doing some extended paint sessions a few days in a row. It\'s been a long time since I\'ve had any confidence in my back.

Heh I should get back to work shouldn\'t I Bracer and belt done, face in progress! Absolutely the last thing on the model...

Thanks, it was a bit of a nightmare working with the scroll so full of holes but I think it turned out pretty good. Not quite the way I wanted it to, but close enough!

Anyway, I did the face. He\'s varnished and everything, but in the end I kinda wish I used my regular skintone. Oh well, it was worth a shot

I hope you like the photo as well, it\'s using a new printed out backdrop. I kinda like it... no need to Photoshop out the background or anything. Might use it from now on.

I also whipped up some toilet paper and masking tape light diffusers for my painting lamps, and it softened the light nicely. Quick adjustment on the camera to compensate for slightly lower light level and I was on my way.

And, before Glyn asks, I printed it out on my old man\'s printer so save my own precious ink

Great job. Nice colours. Srong contrasts and good smooth blending.

I think the base could benefit from a little growth or something. Not necesarily bright green static grass, but a little something would be nice...

Also, I might suggest you to try and paint over a white undercoat on one of your next minis. It usually results in a more realistic looking mini with less black-lining.

That said - great model - great job.

Thanks Jakob! I haven\'t made up my mind about texturing the base yet. I kinda want snow, kinda want dead static grass, and I kinda want to try some of that mossy looking stuff. I have everything but the snow flock at home... I\'ll put some thought into it and maybe post another pic if I change things.

The white undercoat is an interesting idea as well. I\'ve painted exactly two models with white undercoats in my life I think... one of them being a black Eldar vehicle. I was new to the hobby and couldn\'t afford black spray... what a mistake

Anyway I think it\'s definitely something to experiment with in the future. I just have to be more careful about not leaving white spots in the really deep cracks. I missed a few spots the last time I did it lol

- thats the thing - those white spots and creases will indeed show if you are not careful and it forces you to consider the shading colour and not \"just\" rely on the black undercoat. It is my experience that (at least my own) minis get more vibrant, colourful and realistic when white primer is used.

Good point, it probably would force you to think about things instead of just going along with what you usually do.
