You\'re an artist right........

You know, there\'s nothing quite like doing a 3 year degree in fine art to really put you off art for life!

These days most people resort to conceptual art because they don\'t need any talent or skill to pass it off as art apart from the ability to convince someone it is! You should have seen the talentless bunch of wannabee\'s that made up the bulk of my fellow students. There were a few skilled \'artists\' in there though, people who actually had talent and ability (and no I wasn\'t one of them!). Probably half of my year (about 40 students of various ages) were more interested in playing at being artists. This involved turning up late, going for a coffee and a nasty roll-up, coming back to the studio, moving a few bits around, coming up with the next mind numbingly dull idea, and then going back to the bar for a pint and more roll-ups.

Aside from that I\'m imfamous for my third class poetry and my ability to start writing all kinds of fiction but never finishing any of them.

I better stick to painting minis.

Tinmine

That\'s not a colour cast..they are taken on infra-red film. The one on the left looks crap at that resolution however

I feel like I shouldn\'t be here:( amoungst all you talented people apart from having dabbled in photography throughout the years and paint mini\'s I don\'t have a leg to stand on compared to the rest of you.
Ah well guess I\'ll just have to keep on painting and try to get into the top 100 in my dreams.

@Finn:
Like the one on the right. IR gives a great atmosphere. Is it sepia toned? Just about to go \'proper\' digital and ditch my old Minolta X700 and 300. Waiting for an EOS 300D. It should come tomorrow...... Wahey!

Nothing wrong with pints, or roll-ups really, but there is something intensly irritating about students who think they\'re artists because they spend all day in the bar rolling their nasty little fags and drinking vending machine coffee (it\'s cheaper than the cheapest watered down lager served in student unions).

I\'d rather be in the same room as a bunch of students than a group of local rednecks, but it doesn\'t stop me wanting to throttle the little sods sometimes!

:D

They were originally taken on Konica IR B&W. I spent ages in the darkroom tweaking them...and then I found out that if I scanned them
into one of my early versions of PS and \'autolevelled\' I got this wonderful colour effect. It\'s been I while since I took any IR and I suspect
PS7 is probably too efficient to produce such fortuitous happenstances...

I took these on a Nikon F4S which is my weapon of choice, but I too am about to go fully digital. My system can\'t take the alcohol and
darkroom fumes anymore...Plus Mrs finn thinks that weeks spent in the darkroom are a tad antisocial:D

@Sturm: You\'ll grow out of it. I used to feel the same, but now I can no longer trust my \'strangling reflex\' and prefer rednecks anyday....Working in education might be responsible.....

I tried automatic thoughts once. I get this sentence: \"L\'Amour est un homme ailé sur un cheval\" ie Love is a winged man riding a horse...:duh:
So I gave up anything related to thoughts and started making installations with empty bottles of Guiness :D

No you\'ve got to tell the psychiatrist \"It\'s Upside down\" and see the reaction.

Christ! I have to train for weeks.....:D
No, it\'s quite easy: drinking too much Champagne makes inspiration literally ooze out of one\'s head...
Automatic writting is less demanding but don\'t forget to burn any compromising stuff like things about how files and sexual activites can be related...:D

Hm, actually, that page stated that you\'re supposed to turn the slides, or you\'ll get points off in the creativity department.

Well I draw and paint a little too. I haven\'t done any serious drawings lately though. I\'ve been working on a wall painting for a couple of friends of mine and I am designing some tattoos at the moment but that\'s it. Warhammer really inspired me to draw again, especially anatomy and stuff like that. Here\'s some work of mine:

Koen very cool stuff. I especially like the Reptus or Draconian fella. Great musculature. I thought this topic was supposed to be about this sort of thing, so thanks for bringing it back on track!

Thanks man. The first pic is supposed to be a daemonhost. The pic is too \'zoomed in\' so all the pencil lines are visible. It looks better in real life.
Warhammer and stuff just is great too get the artistic juices flowing (so to speak).
