As for my least favorite company I would honestly have to say Games Workshop. I find I lot of their sculpts to be rather booring and lacking detail and their cost per mini is generally higher than I am willing to pay.

How peculiar! I\'m the complete reverse lol I hate Reaper and still love GW, even though a lot of that may be the kind of yearning Gilvan Blight has for the old days :D

I change my mind more thatn my socks think I\'d have to be firmly in the dragon forge camp..Like am all hate em all.. Every company has it\'s good stuff and very company has it\'s crap..

Love some o the Ilyad stuff that\'s appearing..
Games workshop has always been in there simply due to the size of the ranges meaning I can find what I want...Finding though as my skill develops my tastes change..
Overall Reaper is making some great stuff although some are a little ott with the scrolling details..
As long as the model captyres my imagination and makes me think I could do this with that then all is happy..

I think that because GW are corrupted, that doesn\'t change their miniature quality. And they aren\'t that bad morally...are they?

By the way, can I have links to Illiyad, sacred blade, Ral partha and Wyrd miniatures?

Thanks

Metal with mettle. Plastic with ... umm

GW is my favorite mini co.

Get this. My Mum just sent me my 30th birthday present and it\'s a GW \"Giant\"! Woo hoo :)

The GW staff d00d helped her choose it for me. I\'ve always disliked the \"Giant\". But now that I own it I can tell ya it rocks!

So much stuff on the sprues.

Go the \"Giant\"!!

I know! I\'m very impressed with it to say the least. How\'s the amount of stuff you get with it. I now have a lifetimes supply (and more) of basing goodies to get creative with plus the \"Giant\" to paint up.

So c00l!

Very exciting stuff!!

Hey Krom have you started painting yours?

Loads of stuff to like: Hasslefree, Rackham, PP, Sacred Blade, Wyrd, Heresy... The list could go on.

As for the shit-list:
GW (for their attitude and the rubbish cast quality I had last few times)
Reaper (they take the talents of skilled sculptors and use them to produce mostly UTTER TOSS).
Mongoose. How on earth 90% of their miniature output gets past quality control is beyond me. Utter shite.
Rezolution. As for Mongoose.
Many other smaller companies who really should just stop until they know what they\'re doing or get some decent sculptors in.

Any miniature company that uses \'Stevie Wonder\' paint jobs to advertise their stuff.

DEFINETLY ILLYAD...:p...

GW Second...

Forgeworld... bad quality oftenly...

Well, then Rackham, I guess, but I dislike painting these models... and the quality of the Metal...

Scibors Minis are cool as well...

My likes:

It\'s been GW from the start for me, so they\'re top of my list by quite a way. If this new \'Collector\'s\' line that they seem to be trialing pans out, that would probably raise them even higher. They are storming ahead in terms of plastics production and technology. Disadvantages - there size seems to have meant that they have lost a lot of their sense of humour in their publications and image

Rackham - quality of the sculpting is incredible, but the general wierdness of the concepts doesn\'t always grab me. I do like the Dirz though

PP - Nice chunky models, although price-wise I think they tend to match if not be more than similar GW models. The whole steam-powered thing is cool. Would be nice to see a Warmachine starter box with some plastic warjacks. Plus they have Mike McVey

Dislikes:

Apart from the small dislikes mentioned above, I don\'t think that there are any companies that I really dislike wholesale. Generally I\'m a painter and gamer with GW models, who occasionally buys stuff done by other manufacturers when it catches his eye

Oh, I don\'t like those heroclix prepainted tradeable miniatures things, there we go

I don\'t have an absolute favourite Company , but I do like some GW Character figures (Ok and their SOB\'s, Hey they\'re Nuns Wi\' Guns.)
Reaper, despite some people\'s dislike for them, and I admit I used to dismiss them myself, I have a growing appreciation for their figures.
Rackham, Thanks to Jen Haley for opening my eyes to that line.
Hasslefree, Privateer Press, Spyglass (Goes without saying really).

I do however dislike the new \"Heroclix style\" figures that are being released supposedly for D & D. Especially after the good metal figures they produced and then suddenly dropped like a Hot potato.

But the worst figures I got were at Salute 2005 and were from the Cursed Empire RPG line.
Concept art work was really tasty and at first glance the figures looked good. However after close examiniation with magnifiers the sculpting is DIRE!
One figure has a round blob for a face with two lines for eyes and a gash supposedly representing a mouth.

I\'m tempted to try to paint it, but it\'d be trying to make a Silk purse from a Sow\'s ear.

Hi laurence,
I have not got the Giant yet, but I had a good look at it at my local GW store the other day, and I was impressed. I will be getting one soon,
I opted for a box of cadian shock troops, just to try.
20 of them for £18 now that is cheap!!!and loads of extras as well.
Keep us posted on your progress with the giant.
Cheers

working in the game industry I would say alot of new and exciting miniatures in the pipe now,Reaper, Privateer Press \"Hordes\", Wyrd Miniatures, EasternFront Studios, Sacred Blade, Crunch Waffle, this list is very extensive but to pick one over another is impossible as most of these companies use the same sculptors.

whatever. i think they have great sculptors, and i like their subject materials. no one else has even come close to making a good range of dnd characters and monster models like reaper has. sure, some stuff stinks, maybe even 50% has a look i dont dig - but thats just as good, if not better than nearly every other company. that and they have 3000+ minis.

i have mentioned my favorites....but for my least favorite i will undoubtedly be balked at: privateer press. i love steam punk, and some of the minis are cool (like that khador jack with all the baggage) but most of it looks clumsy and boring. not my cup of tea.

Most manufacturers have at least some figures in their ranges that I like (often for different reasons). But most of them also have at least one or two that I don\'t really like at all. :)

If I listed my top 20 minis I think they would probably come from 20 different companies including Andrea & Pegaso (mentioned because I don\'t think they\'ve been mentioned already). :)
