Guys, they are a french canadian dish called \"poutine\" and I\'m fairly sure that a frech canadian was the one who invented them...they are now served around the world. Poutine facts

And just to complicate matters, what you call crisps is what we call chips in Dutch. And before you ask, French Fries are called \"friet\" or \"frites\" here.

Mmmm...there is something about cheese, mushrooms, and steak that is irresistible. We went to Victoria on the weekend, and I had a HUGE dish of the best pasta I\'ve had in a long time. It was penne pasta with strips of marinated tenderloin beef covered in a creamy, spicy mushroom/cheese sauce. *Drool*

I also had about a litre of hadmade blackberry, grapefruit, and rasberry gelato for dessert.

I saw a gelato deliveryman at the post office parking lot last week. By the time I had conviced myself that no jury in the world would convict me for car-jacking him, he had already driven away...:(:D

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMsopapillas............
I wholeheartedly second that thought, Warwiorks. One of the things I miss about the Southwest. There was this restaurant, just a little whole in the wall place I used to go to where that was the dessert menu: home-made ice cream and all the sopapillas you could eat served with bowls of cinnamon-sugar and honey.

That may be because, here in the US, the similar word Donner is infamous :D It\'s the name of a party who resorted to cannibalism on their way to California. NOt usually a good association with food. lol lol lol lol

Poutine sounds interesting. I should discuss that with my father who has a snackbar. Wonder if that could become a hit here. :)

The story reminds me a bit of the baguettes we had in Bordeaux at the local game club. In the evening we would go down to a stall where you get baguettes filled with warm meat, salad and sauce. This would be put in a paper bag which would be topped off with French fries. Good food and more than enough to last a night of roleplaying! :)

Actually, I do :D It\'s in northeast Dallas near White Rock Lake off of East Northwest Highway (Yes! Only in Dallas can you have a wreck in the southbound lane of East Northwest Highway) Don\'t remember the street its on, but its either called Ernesto\'s or Ernestine\'s. Can\'t remember which. ??? And Thursday\'s for lunch it\'s all you can eat enchilladas!!!!

Four hundred miles away for me, and I\'m in the same state!!

Worst food for me? Tofu ice cream. Most disgusting thing I\'ve ever allowed to pass my lips. :|~

Like Finn, I like steak. Big, beefy cuts of ribeye cooked only enough to be warm. If it\'s not mooing it\'s overcooked. :D

And sauteed mushroom caps. Gotta have a steak with the mushrooms and a baked potato with everything (cheese, sour cream, butter, bacon bits, chives) and I prefer potatos baked in the oven outside of foil and rubbed with shortening. It makes the skin crispy.

here\'s something for everyone... best recipie for cheesecake ever:

Crust
18 Graham Crackers or 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups Graham Cracker Crumbs (Crumbs are easier)
1/4 Cup Butter (I use either real butter or I Can\'t Believe It\'s Not Butter I tend to use a whole stick)
1/4 Cup Sugar
Cinnamon
Ground Cloves
Ground Ginger
Nutmeg
Allspice
Preheat oven to 375. Mix above to form crust directly in the pie plate and set in fridge until needed.

Base Cake
1 Pound Cream Cheese at Room Temperature
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla (Of course, I never measure, I just pour)
Mix into a creamy texture and pour into the chilled crust. Bake at 375 degrees for twenty minutes. Remove from oven and let cool for twenty minutes. Preheat Oven to 450.

Topping
1/2 pint Sour Cream
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
2 Tablespoons Sugar
Whip the sour cream then add sugar and vanilla. Pour on top of baked cake. Bake for five minutes at 450 degrees. Let cool at room temperature for one hour, then refrigerate for twelve hours before serving.
