Thanks everyone!
Digga, I'm glad you like it so far!
WGS, I really like the bat idea and I'll see if I can make it fly (pun intended). I have this lady here and might recast her bats with insta mould if I can get some.

Securing them to the cave roof would be a bitch, but If i can do It I'll find a way.

It's very useful Digga you can find it through jewellery stores cheaper as long as you don't mind neon colours or sparkles !
Zab those bats would look awesome

That looks so nice! What resin did you use? I really really need to add that to my repertoire.

I used this one. View attachment 30802
Very easy to use. Available at Micheal's and other crafty type stores. Practically no odor (which kept the Lady Inquisitor happy)I followed the directions, but here is my personal walk through:

1)Pour resin into one plastic measuring cup (also available at crafty stores don't use wax coated ones as they can make the mix cloudy).

2)Pour an equal amount of hardener into another measuring cup.

3)Pour the resin into the hardener and scrape as much out as you can from that cup into the hardener cup. This will ensure there is slightly more hardener than resin and will help it cure. Mix gently for about 1 -1.5 min, gently to avoid bubbles - of course if you want bubbles for a swamp or stuff go to town.

4)Pour that mix into a third cup and tint to your liking. Mix until happy. I used secret weapon baby poop to give the water a bit of a dirty look.

There is more to it before and after that in terms of prepping the area for the resin, but that is the resin specifics. I followed what Meg did on her blog and it worked out quite well.

Try it out - you'll like it and it's not very hard (until it cures- HA!) to get right :)

Thanks WGS! I'm pretty thrilled with this one. I even mixed some water fx with a little secret weapon baby poop and applied it to the cave roof and interior to make it look like it's sweating and damp in places.

Dam it Zab. I don't think I am worthy of such craftsmanship. I think this is some of your best basing I've seen. You definitely have to teach us how you did the water and what mats you used.

Not true! I liked how this one pushed me to try new things and so you reap the rewards ;)

Oh yes, I sanded it with a few different grits then went at it with the dremel polishing pads and then gave it a thin coat of clear gloss varnish when I sealed the wood too. I also added some surface disturbances with some gloss varnish and baby poop since there are few bubbles and a giant squig will be stomping out of the cave. The still surface just looked wrong.
