Thanks! The eyes were fun :bulgy-eyes: Yeah Demi, there will be a few light highlights on some edges towards the front and some greenish brown washed into the recesses to make 'em pop a bit more. There'll be powders all over the legs and belly too.

One can almost imagine Gollum hiding behind the corner, and a ring lying in front of the Squig. :D

Breath taking work. I look at it and wish there were so many other things I would have added. A rider would have been fun, but I really wanted to do some hair squigs latched onto his lip to give him sort if a bearded look. Also I am still looking for Gollum.

Thanks gang! I couldn't make the bats flying out the top work for love nor money :( Oh well, still pretty fun piece. Now to do a up a tutorial on how to package the beast for the best chance of survival while shipping. There's a wood and pink foam insulation sub frame assembly inside the box that keeps it pressed to the bottom and centered in the middle so it doesn't come loose and crush itself and also so the box cannot be crushed. More pics and a gallery montage soon,,,

So no dead, actually really busy with life and work and...HOBBY!!!;)
Here's a quick photo montage of how to package a big fragile mini for travel across the continent in the less than gentle hands of Canada Post and the United States Postal service...
Gather supplies:

Get a nice big box, glue down the flaps and re-enforce the bottom with some extra cardboard:

Make a subframe the same size as the bottom of the box for the base to secure to:

Now mark and install some pink foam to keep the subframe on the bottom of the box and make it crush proof:

Slide the subframe in and add some packing peanuts and bubble wrap to the void in the top, plaster it with this end up and fragile stickers, and pray it makes the journey...

I have also finished the base for my RT era exchange minis and started on their painting...

and i started to prep my big anime Vampirella for webmonkey's October challenge...

~whew!~ I'm bagged  but very happy. Also almost done replacing the tiles on the ceiling at the cottage and our range hood just crapped out at home so I guess I know what my next DIY project will be. Did i mention I'm pooped? At least I'm finally getting over my flu from almost 3 weeks ago!

Cheers ya'll!!!

Whoa! Nice post! Vampirella looks fun to paint. Those arms are tough though. Did you say you got an ebay bargain on her? I wanted to join the Anime challenge but just can't see how to get enough time. I do know that the Anime model guys are masters of prep and subtle skin. Both things i want to learn about.

I have had good luck shipping minis with a double box. Pack the mini to your very best ability in one box then, pack that box into a second larger box using the same care. So far so good. What you really have to look out for is Digga's head exploding when he get's his Squig back. KA-BLOOOEY! Maybe put it in a plastic bag?

Yeah Zab has crushed the walls of reality for me over and over with this project. Now unpacking this beast looks so much fun hahaha. But the vamperella chibi looks like a lot of fun too. Where do you find all these cool minis lol.

That is some serious packaging there Zab, liking the old school beakies and there base. Always prefered the comic style Vampirella, unfortunately the one I purchased had the right cover art but anime style face when I opened the box ! Bummer
