Yeah, indeed, nice setup.

And y'know, when in doubt...

OSL test subject (from way back when i painted up a few minis only using SW washes over a white basecoat):

I challenged myself and I set a time limit on this one just to see if I could do a competitive piece - in 5 hours! I used James Wappel's Shaded Basecoat Technique to get a nice cartoony feel and then threw on some weathering, pigments and OSL. I have uploaded the finished piece here:

This was a fun little challenge. More WIP pics later to show you how I got there ;)

That's pretty cool. I really like the dwarf! You need to add a magic amulet as a light source.

How did you like the Dark Age minis?

The preacher was a nice size, the core fembot was just so petite that it was crazy. They are nice sculpts and have a decent level of clean detail given that they are cast in metal. I'll throw together a little video of the painting and a display of the finished mini later. In the meantime I'm gonna take a break before my NOVA stuff gets here. I've been painting a lot lately and kinda need some time to recharge before those minis come in :)

Fast and fun. Could have done so much more, but really wanted to see what I could do within a 5 hour time limit with my current skill level. I'd call this table top plus. Montage for the Dark Age Comp here: http://www.coolminiornot.com/372094

May do up a short video of the process once I look at the footage and see if it was in frame enough for it to work ;)

Cheers,
Zab

Woah, it got way cool when you put it together and added the OSL! I like your corroded, 'old' version of Angie.

Pretty dam good for 5 hours work mate. Slightly strong on the osl but works. I have found a light wash of the blue works quite well to get some detail back from the white.

I concur... that must have been 5 procrastination-free hours for sure. Love the gritty, flakey look of the automaton. Good stuff, man.

Thanks gang :) I agree Canny, I think I could have thinned even more and lowered the psi down to like 10 to get a more subtle look. If I had allowed more time (even an hour) I would have gone back in and pulled back the white and really pushed the shadows on both figures to make the osl more contrasty.

You need an out fit like Zab if your going to pull off some top notch limited time painting. Haha
Oh you, when you do speed painting you don't have time for clothes. And the options for unloading your brush are just endless... ... ...

This took a while to do.
I seem to be able to find a million other things to do rather than cut another video :p Display video coming soon or as soon as I can get around to it ;)
