Yeah. I had that coming. My wife is now making cooing sounds and trying to convince the little one that a sibling to boss around would be cool. Kid's pretty sharp- she's not buying it.

Well, I had to stay home most of this week. I started to cough up blood and The Lady Inquisitor banished me to the doctor. He said no big deal you must have burst some blood vessels in your throat from coughing so hard just stay home for a few days and let the virus run it's course. Fringe benefit, looks who's ready for her display pics...

No, that is not my blood on the base, actually it could well be. Anyway, I was going to push on with it and tighten up a few things but it's for The Lady Inquisitor and she is so excited to take it and show it off on her desk at work that I have barely been able to get my hands on it again to take pics. I guess that means she likes it
I shot my mouth of on my blog saying that you could probably use the secret weapon washes to paint a mini if you primed it white (given their weird semi opacity and ink/paint/wash like viscosity). Well, wouldn't you know it some one asked for a tutorial. Not one to simply splash paint on a test mini, I reached into the bits box and slapped together these suckers...

Should be a fun little exercise and a nice break from trying to up my game all the time.

""CHEERS EXCITEDLY FOR A TUTORIAL"" Can't wait to see it. I also hope you get to feeling better. Must have been scary seeing blood coughed up as that can never be good. I am glad to here the doctor say its not big deal as I am sure you are. As for Alice, BANGARANG! Looks great and the blood was my first thought too...is it Zabs? Really digging the sand effect down near her boots.

Always good when the better half appreciates the painting you've done. Sorry to hear about the trip to the doc's and hope you have a speedy recovery. Should be an interesting tutorial

Well I'm all set up to paint those 2 test minis with secret weapon washes and try to shoot a video tutorial of my success or possible failure. Fun either way ;)

Ah, washes not pigments. I see. Still looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Not really better or worse. They are very different from GW or other washes on the market. They are somewhere between a wash and an ink in terms of opacity and viscosity. I should be able to do some very fast and easy layering from light to dark with them over a white primer. I'll try to catch it on video and see how it goes. I figure 2-4hrs total to get decent tabletop job on a mini. Who's taking bets? Success or failure? I really have no idea at this point...

Never doubted ya for a second. Now I have to see how you did this because those turned out GREAT! and I have about 1000 rats to do this too :p

The first wip pic is after about 2 -3 layers the finished one is one final highlight of SW wash mixed with some white and a some very selective final glazes. A hair dryer can speed things up substantially, doing a unit of ten or more would be fast because the first one would be dry by the time the 10th was done. Also you don't have to wait for the layers to dry completely as that gives you even better blending and tones. It's surprising how easy it was. I'll have the actual time breakdown later with the video.

Thanks. I don't have those guys. Actually, they are pretty rare. I've seen those guys go for $40+ on ebay, so that was a good get!
