@DR
I know, they are sooo much worse in person. Sitting next to my RT minis is her and some GS, liquid GS, apoxie sculpt and miliput. I may at this point be procrastinating a little :p

@Demi
I have a new level of respect for the big kit boys and girls now. Prep is everything!!! Also, Digga's squig got there on his B-Day just by blind stupid fluke!!! How great is that?!

@Meph
Yeah beakies! I have some pretty coll rt er stuff lying around that i can actually do justice to now! So happy.

@Digga
ebay, e2046 and other less savory places. It's an addiction. I just got one that looks like one of my fav cartoon characters so that will be fun to paint and convert!

@WGS
I went with the anime vampirella because i have 2 ladies in the house and some of the comic book style are a bit... top heavy. Don't want more raised eyebrows from the lady inquisitor and the agent of chaos appriciates the cute ones more. Also i need to be able to paint something that doesn't make my giggle like a schoolgirl so my hand stays steady o_O

@Crystella
I agree there is still time for more to join! Just get a recast Demi, I can send you a little cat girl to paint asap if you like... the deadline is NOV 15. Plenty of time with an airbrush on hand...

2 marines from the 2nd battle for Armageddon. Less is more with battle damage, but it was a long war and they were in theater for an extended period. I'll put up the montage in the gallery soon. Onto the Anime kit challenge now!

That land slide looks great and really sells it with that wood plinth. Also you have me curious now who your fav cartoon character is now that you said you got a mini that looks like em.

Thanks guys! Only thing that backfired was that The Lady Inquisitor loves the faux distressed finish on the plinth so now I have some nice plain pine bar stools that she wants me to show her how to stain like that. ~eesh~ Could be worse, at least she wants to do it herself. Could have been assigned to me. As for the cartton character. It's Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil! I found an anime model that will be easy to convert and a little tech deck mini skateboard to go with him.

Thanks, I'm kind of enjoying going back to the old school sculpts now that I can do them justice. I may even have to do up a few just for me as fun breaks in between other projects!

Nice Beek marines, Zab.. One of the local hobby stores runs a multi-day auction and I went to the miniature one this past Sunday. I managed to pick up several random AD&D figures including some nice looking orcs, which might be getting some primer on them this weekend.. I also managed to score one of the old Thunderbolt Mountain 25mm diaroma sets from Ebay that's been calling my name as well.

Sweet Zab. And is that a skull in the knot at the bottom corner painted to look like the distressed wood grain or just a happy coincidence?

@Khonner Yay Old school goodies!
@ Krule Oh shit. That's pretty damn creepy right there. NOT PLANNED. Glad I'm shipping this off to someone else. Maybe I shouldn't have bought that wood from the weird guy behind the cemetery... :ghost:

Demi, you know what is really scary about that? It's not there in real life - from any angle. Blarg. Little bit of progress on the Anime kit challenge:

Just have to fill her arm joints, add some sand, slate, gravel and a few leaves blowing across the ground in the same direction as her hair... maybe one or two just coming off the tips of her fingers on her extended hand... maybe...

and as always,.. sand, sand, sand,..... smooth is important. She's coming along though, and I'm glad to see you taking the time to do the prep work.

oh yeah. Liquid gs in a few layers then sand and repeat. Then assemble and fill arm gaps with apoxie sculpt and wash any liquid GS areas that were sanded with a thinned slurry or apoxie sculpt. Then let dry overnight. Sand and then prime. Then run wash over whole model to find imperfections, fill sand re-prime. Then paint. I think prep will take up 1/3 to 1/2 the project o_O Totally needs it at this scale!

Geez, how are you doing the hair?

There is an old school model shop near me and they have the original Vampirella. I think I like your version better. The also have a bunch of the Ed Roth Rat-Fink type stuff. I assume they are reprints but pretty interesting little fork of the hobby.

I am NOT going to get sucked into the anime challenge this time, but if i did I would have to paint up my old and much loved/abused 1st gen Transformers Jetfire as a Veritech.
