Zebra Centaur (repost)

I re-did the image so it would fit better. Hopefully it won't be so grainy this time. This mini took me a while to do but I think it turned out quite well. Never tried Zebra stripes before and I must say they look pretty good. The rocks were made out of Durham's Water Putty. A medium I would reccommend to anyone! Any comments or suggestions re: this mini are greatly appreciated.

The main problem is that your clearcoat is too thick and comes out very glossy. Sylistically, the only issue I have is that the bulk of the mini is done high-contrast, but the human part just doesn't fit, it's too graded. Also, I think he ought to be in a more natural pose, the rear legs are arranged such that he looks like he's walking with just them. Love the idea!

The stripes ARE too parallel, and they are also too distinct; their edges should blend into the white, but somewhat abruptly.

I certainly did look at many photos when painting the lower part. Some Zebras even have more paralell lines and look almost computer perfect. I chose a particular Zebra for this pattern because I had pics of it lying on it's side and I could see the bottom. Funny thing, some Zebras has more lines on one side than the other. Wierd.
