To paint it better start by doing a better job cleaning the figure. Take off all that flash that connects his bits to the slottabase tab.
Try painting the chainmail with sliver, then washing with thinned black ink then doing a light drybrush over that with some more silver.
Highlight the hair with either some superdark brown or some blue-black mix.
And over all just highlight things a little more.... They'll stand out better that way.
