Captain Cortez of the Crimson Fists

This is the 20th-or-so mini I painted since I started splatting colors on these little fellas and the first mini I painted for an auction, and not just for tabletop gameplay. Drilling the gun and launching some random flock on the base was quick and easy, but painting the mini took a couple of days. I absolutely don't know how to shade, glaze, higlight and so on (hey, I just started after all!), but I tried putting some darker and/or lighter lines where the light was supposed to fall and reflect. I also had some fun while blacklining the eagle on the left shoulderpad, the fingers and the Fist icons on the character's chest and backpack - I also blacklined the claws on the powerfist, but it didn't came out that good, heh. Be harsh, be rude, be whatever you want to be, but please post comments, I think I badly need some advice :)

id sculpt a real tile base. painting on the slotta itself doesnt cut it for me. you have a goog grasp of technique, but it looks like you missed a few spots. darkline the fingers of the p=fist, and darken the rim around the eye.

Well, if you want advice on highlighting and shading, go to my site (link in my profile), then Salamanders > Modelling > Painting - may help. I basically agree with everything Rachel said, so I'll say no more - no point repeating stuff! ;o)

Thanks, but this was quite an easy mini to paint and, above all, I spent much more time on this one than I usually do for my tabletop-play minis, you should really see how ugly they look :) As soon as I grab my camera-equipped pal I'll post my "playground" Fists, and you'll see ;)
