GreenOne's WIP - The late Elf installment

Hi y'all... I think I'm warmed up enough for something more serious, so I picked up my my last project where I left it couple months ago.
This high elf lord was supposed to be for a paint-off challenge against AlienGod3, I guess this one if off by now, anyway he would have totally owned me
Now the pressure is gone, I don't feel as frustrated on this one.
Just the horse for now, I'm currently working on the mane. I saw the colored transistion on between mane and legs on a couple models, fancy that... think I can pull this off allright, got to work on that bit some more also.

***Scoop*** I think I might go NMM for this one, would be my first serious attempt at this.. I'm usually more of a metal lover, but this seems appropriate for this model, so stay tuned for some exitement/disaster/frustration/enlightment etc...

actually no bad at all, the transitions between colours are pretty smooth (especially on the horses hoofs).some more highligt on the mane and tail wouldnt hurt tho, but its a great start! :good:

i think, however, that its a bit blasphemy to start work on puny elfs instead of the boy/s...

Hehe, not being a gamer, I have the advantage of being aloof to these racial prejudices... I'll let them settle this on the battlefields

Working on the mane reads as 'mane is basecoated' in this case, so yeah plenty more work to come on this part.

Still stuck on that horsie here... I can put together sessions of about 2 hours daily, still not progressing so fast. Anyway, here's where it stands now, the yellow will be gems some time later, I'm quite happy with the hairy bits, though they do look better irl.

Okay, update. Did the Yellow cloth and the gems, quite a bit of work to get them there, I'm pretty happy with them, first try at gems in a very long time.

Also, on a different note, a bit of basework for my other mini ( The screaming orc.)... almost done there.

Next, I'm gonna start working on the NMM, there will be both gold and silver, should be quite a challenge for me, with the amount of metal, especially on the rider, this should make or break that mini... wish me luck

The gems are pretty well done and the yellow is nice too. The base is good.

That horse looks amazing. The gems and skin really pop out and work really well together.

No, actually the last submission was that drunken scotish goblin I would have defeated you with if you didn't run away My 'to outdo' mini is still Alyx, which is my only 7+ so far, I do hope this will one be my second

Extremely well done thus far mate, from the horse color to the gems to the base. And doing those tiny gems is no easy thing. Great work.

Here<s the result of my efforts at creating NMM thus far... not quite there I assume, but getting better. Let me know what it would need to make it more metallicy please.

Happy New Year, Y'all !
Well, my Girlfriend works the night shift, and since I'm not big on celebrations of any kind, I spent new year's eve trying to paint decent NMM gold.
And decent I hope it is ( Too tired to be my own judge right now.)
I also modified the silver since my last post, I'm still not sure there is enough contrast tough.

Anyway, unless I change my mind in the morning, I think I can move on, still have plenty more NMM coming up on the rider to perfect this new trick. Besides 4 gems and a couple touchups, the horse is done, I think I'll advance on the Nubian before I move on to the rider, or maybe paint the base I got ready for this one, something different for sure.
NMM is as tough as I expected it to be, besides the theory ( There plenty of article around on that topic) it requires much smoothness and neatness, and anybody who followed my progression knows that smoothness and neatness are not my greatest strength.

May anyone not too hungover letme know what they think

I like the gold you've done, it works well, however (here comes the nitpicky part) it seems a little dark to me, like it's possibly very antique? Also it gets a little lost in the mane, but that might change if your not finished with the mane.

If I was you I'd go with pretty much the same colors and contrast as you have on the gems on the harness. Those look awesome and to me they look a lot like gold. Perhaps the scale mail could use a bit more white?

I think it's going to turn out awesome, loving it!
