Since when did any sculptor NOT exaggerate?
The Tom Meier ones aren't exaggerated, but the rest of 'em are.i´d say most of dark swords stuff isnt exaggerated. and they´re loveleh=) (save for the horrible bases)
same here for hasslefree stuff. I got the Kanako mini from them as a gift (I don't remember buying it, but it was in the package). Once someone asked how to paint black hair, and altough I'm no expert I tried to show it on this mini. And it was such a joy to paint, that I continued, before I realised it was fully painted and done (They are not perfect in proportion (not many miniatures are) and he's not the best face sculptor but pick one or two up and you'll see why people love painting them.
However GW have some fantastic sculptors too and I don't think your taste seem weird at all.
I am going to talk to the manager and may take it to head office as well.James, you really need to make this an issue, talk to both local manager and insist on raising formal discussion/complaint with area manager. Hell, if he's been badmouthing you it could well be considered Slander.
I am going to talk to the manager and may take it to head office as well.
I've also decided that they will still see me in GW Friar Lane. Every time there's a new release I'm going to order it online and get it done for store pick up. It will give me such satisfaction every other Saturday to head in and show them just how many sales they are missing out on.
I wish I didn't have to buy direct from GW at all, but it's the only way to guarantee I get new releases on the day they come out. If I ordered online from somewhere like Wayland I'd get them on the Monday (or later) rather than the Saturday, and loosing out on a few days painting time really makes a difference when getting new releases up on eBay.

lol! Hang in there hun! I remember when FASA was owned by FASA.
If it was me, i would just take my buisness elsewhere. The best power you have as a comsumer.
And gl on painting full time, seems like a risky way to make a living since everyone and there grandmother is painting and selling on ebay these days.
So do i Katty...God i miss that company. The battletech stuff they wrote was awesome, too bad they had no buisness sense what so ever.
Exactly what I think every time I've read that. You often hear people say "the hobby wouldn't exist without GW" and things with similar meaning. I wonder how true that is.
Right on. And there's an easy argument to be made that the hobby, overall, would be not just different but better. There is quite a large "hobby" outside of Warhammer, that's been in existance for longer than GW's been around. You have the whole historical side of the hobby that ranges from large scale display models to small scale wargaming miniatures. I find it quite improbable that unless GW had turned up to do a fantasy take on the wargaming bit, noone else would have. Surely, things would be different, if GW had never existed, but I don't think there wouldn't be a "hobby".
I have the exact opposite experience. Since people have a vague idea about what Warhammer is about they imediately think that mini painting is something that smelly, annoying kids do, and I, being a grown up, should have left that behind me years and years ago. It's not until they see the painted miniatures they realise that there is something beyond the plastic toys they see when they walk past the GW store. People with no idea about miniatures whatsoever usually have a more non-biased view of it, at least in my experience.I also think that GW has made the hobby a bit more socially acceptable.
If I were you I'd approach this member of staff in front of everyone and politely make an issue of it - tell him you've heard he has been saying things about you and that you'd like to see the manager and that you will be making a complaint to the area manager and writing a letter to GW HQ customer service droids. Watch him crap his pants as he frets about his job security in these dark times - you may as well have some fun with it and savour that look of fear and embarassment on his face in front of his fellows.

Not really my style to be honest. Back in the day it would have been the very likely response, but I can kinda look at this from a wider perspective and see (without wanting to sound horribly aloof) that I already have a massive upper hand on this guy, so why worry.
He has his little group of fanboy regulars in the store and I would hate to put him in a position of awkwardness in front of them. He doesn't have much else, so why take that 'glory' away too. Also, I didn't hear it first hand. If I had things might be a bit different. I am taking this from someone who heard it from someone else. I know that it's still reliable information, but without knowing exactly it's not as easy to respond in a very strong way.
I don't feel good about putting anyone's job at risk, regardless of the situation. I like a bit of sweet revenge, but not to that sort of extent.
Having said that, the customer service in this situation simply does not fit the ethos of the company, so I am going to take it to someone higher up. Can't go without being reported.
