Haha well they ain't going any where, Slap! yeah I could be accussed of one brush stroke too many.

Just got both little ones to bed, 2 year old wants another story 4 stories to sleep, and new one has a bit of colic, Zoe gone to bed as she has had them both most of this week as I went back to work, its been 2 weeks already!
Im feeling not too bad, painting wise Im deciding what todo right now. . . NMM on the chaos lord, or sculpt some SM, I think I will do some SM I can put that down if it all goes haywire.
I went balistic while I was off when ever there was a chance, now Im back to work energy is a little low.

The Termi 2nd from the left I think his fist edge highlighting looks great, good transition from small to larger lining, if they all look similar edge wise I think you're on to a winner, It kinda feels like Arturs work a bit (-battle damage). I like where it's going. It's amazing seeing the growth of people on here you're getting good my friend :) Um power to the power fist lightening? or Or OR . . crystal sheen, they have to have some uber power sheen! (my 2c)

The robo-orc looks tops, I know you will say the same thing to me when I paint my imperial fist BUT push that dark in the yellow I think the colour tone is there it just needs to be a touch darker. I love the not over the top OSL, chips and wear and the scene is uber.

Ten, what do you think of the red/brown shading? too messy?

Alexandra, I feel you with the pictures. My painting light is very yellow. I really need to fix it. My WIP photos suffer from white balance issues and camera shake. I can get pretty good ones if I have time but lately that has been tough.

As an example of the kid-o shenanigans: I had already typed out most of this response on the ipad and my 18 month old told came running out of his bedroom to say he needed help with his bunny. I knew the bunny was in the crib so I went to get it out for him and he b-lined it to the couch to erase my response and play some Toca Boca. (BTW Toca is awesome toddler games. not sure of the platforms but very cool for the littles)

Canny, Thanks for the critique! Also, how the hell am I going to go in and fix the yellow? Just freehand around the battle damage??? Did you see the Nob Mob? I'll be there for years! I guess I can try and do some orangie dots around the lower part of the eye grate. I also plan to check out the black background. I think my camera likes the sky gradient better and it is easier to sell some of the blueish highlights but I do think a black background might set off that pesky yellow better. Let's talk before you start the 'Fists. I am getting a pretty solid idea of how to do yellow with the AB. I think i can save you some grief :)

Artur is my fave! Check out my favorites gallery! I love the way he nails the cartoony "heroic" look. I don't think i will ever be able to be as graphic as guys that paint like that though.

I think just remember for next time the yellow, I know its hard and the camera dont show the shade on yellow as much as other colours. Artur - Yeah he is a fav of mine too. Might *try* to do something along his style for the SM-IF as he will need plenty of damage after going all night killing Genestealers.

I think the sky grad is good, a darker one might show up the lights more and make the shadows seem bigger. All in all as 10 said finalist . .

I don't see you or Zab not placing in a painting competition. Thing had to be rigged from the get go for that to happen.

Been behind on watching your thread. I have to agree with Digganob...i could make a good argument that both you and Zab's diorama were stronger contenders for at least third place. As Zab said there were a lot of nice dragons, so they my have flipped coins to determine some of the placing.

I love all the little details you worked into the diorama.

Edit: the termi looks pretty good, need more lighting on the photos. The blue osl is very nice. I am not a fan of the orange in the window area. The base may come alive with a couple of Army Painters dark colored grass clumps with mud on them.

Pretty happy with how the Killa Canoe turned out so...

look what i got on ebay:

View attachment 25406

A little busted up and some thick paint but pretty good for $40. 3 plastic Killa Kans and one metal Deff Dread. here they are after being stripped in a vat of Simple Green:

I want to try and sell the Kans on ebay (after I paint them) and save the Dread for a little orky diorama I am planning. The ebay thing is an experiment to see if I can maybe pay for a little bit of my hobby without making myself despise said hobby. we'll see how it goes.

Also got the pictures posted for the painted Killa Canoe but am waiting for approval.

Do I spot a D&D Giant Toad there?
Not that'd be good to work "natural" tones on. (Wish I could find mine)

I doubt you will have trouble with a nicely painted set of cans selling on ebapecially if they are painted to the nice standard of your first. The repainted nature of them will help with interesting textures, making them look even more ramshackle and orky.

DR, It is a D&D giant toad. I think I got it in an ebay lot of old painted figs. There were some good minis in there and after a month in the stripping vat even the Testors came off :) My wife's 'totem' is the frog so I will paint it up for her. I need a fairy or something to go on it's back.

The background works nicely. I kind of like the dramatic lighting on a few of the pics too.

i really like the painting, spot on orkish :good:
i wish you had taken some more effort in fixing the joints and cleaning the miniatures from mouldlines though, unfortunately i see pretty heavy ones both on the grot and machine.

You know, those mold lines weren't there the last time I looked. DR, the Illuminati are retouching our pictures again! Can you tell 'em to quit it please?

Thanks Guys!

SkelettetS, you are my Ork Guru! Thanks!

The mold lines on the Can are my fault. I got the can at a swap meet already primed and I brought him to the Aaron Lovejoy workshop to try out some air brush techniques on. He turned out good so I based him and I have some grot sprues in my basing box. The mold line on the grots shoulder I just plain missed. and on his hands and wrists I couldn't be bothered to fix.

On the other hand, mold lines are something I can easily get better at and if I guess I better start paying more attention if I want to get to mid "8's" !
