I finished the experimental e-bay killa kans!
Here are my results:
Hours break down
.5 - Shopping on e-bay and stripping
1.5 - build and paint bases, minor repairs on models, primer
1.5 - Airbrush and frisket
1 - Base coat all the hydraulics and gears, non-yellow bits, and what-not
2 - Checkers! and repair foot again
3 - Painting eyeholes, washes, sponge and dry brush on some more metallics
1 - Pin to bases - repair foot again and repair another foot too.
1 - [still to be done] Photograph and post on e-bay
11.5 - work hours total
So... 11.5 hours @ a $10 an hour target = $115 + $30 that I paid for the models = $145. Hmm, seems a little steep.
To be honest I would be very happy to get $120 for these guys. I really have no idea what they are worth. I have been watching e-bay and 40K stuff does not go for cheap but decently painted stuff seems like it sits on there for a while and I would like to avoid that.
What do you guys think? Start the bidding at $25 each? I figure I need to make at least $5 an hour. That works out to $57.5 + 30 = $87.5.
Another question is, should I sell them as a unit or separate them?
Here are some step by step WIP photos to look at while you think about how to help me corner the e-bay Killa Kan market:
