and the years of practice to achieve that level of steady hand-syndrome, color sense, personal style and planning ability=) having seen stefan paint a few times, i can still never tell what paint goes on next. to achieve a even grey color with some sub tones, he goes through the weirdest palette of blue, bright green, reds, dark greens, pinks, browns, smoke, purple etc etc. anything but orange tbh.
But I must ask, when doing a freehand like the above banner, surely you don't glaze as much as normal. Some of your bolder lines must be done with less dilute paint, yes? I'm just trying to imagine how I would ever glaze a freehand like this with so many details and it just seems insurmountable. It has to work somewhat like drawing a picture would...at least I hope so : )
Our jr goes to the kindergarten as well. But even though he doesn't alyways take a "power nap" around noon any more since a couple of weeks, he is still (or again? *lol*) so awake in the evening, that it is between 8:30 and 9 pm until he sleeps finally. Every second day, it's my turn to bring him to bed, and in some cases, it happens to me that I fall asleep beside him. Or at least, I am getting so comfortable then, that it becomes a bit difficult to pull myself together and start to paint during the last hour of the day
Perhaps I should try your strategy and teach myself to manage with only 5 hours sleep![]()
