Congrats on the silver, you and your minis deserve it.
And I feel for you about that broken one. Sometimes it is really not believable how ruthless some people can be... would it have been so much more time-consuming for them to let you open everything unhurriedly...?!? Idiots!

Anyway, enjoy your medals, and hope your little boy is healthy again :)

Wow, congrats on the two medals! And I'm excited to see more updates on the vermin lord. Looks really cool. I can't wait to see it with the banner!

NJAEeee. with the risk of being perceived as the worst narcissist ever I think i pass lol.

been finishing the other hand now its just the backside of the banner left. started basic pattern, must say some of the skaven icons are pretty close to questionable...

It's not so much that the symbols are "questionable" but that the original Celtic ones they are based upon we're subborned and corrupted by the Fascist movement and organisations in the 1930-40's. So for us those symbols and their similarities are now forever tainted.

yeah i know. sadly its not celtic/other old stuff i think of when i see symbols like this. But still pretty cool and a bit surprising that GW use it for the skaven heraldry.

If i see someone with a tattoo of that symbol I might question their views, but when I see it together with a crouched rodent I don't think about it. It's all about the context.

Heh, school is taking all my time currently, but I plan to get back to painting this summer. Going to put up that WIP thread that I've been wanting to do at the same time. When is the Fang?

EDIT: I do have a GW mini that's waiting for paint. And time...

just a question, out of curiosity: The "fang"... what is it exactly? "gbg" could be Goeteborg, right...?

Hey! It was out of my hands. Literally. :D

Unfortunately May 24th is too soon. I haven't painted one single brushstroke in a long time what with studies taking up my time.

This summer though. There's bound to be some rainy days.

Yeah it's a Swedish GW competition held in the GW stores around the country. Last year some dude had entered an old Heartbreaker Orc I had painted as a demo during a class in the basics of mini painting for kids that I had given away afterwards (not to one of the kids). So that's the joke. :)

EDIT: I actually found a pic of the model.

I didn't know this but it turns out it was sculpted by Kev "The Goblinmaster" Adams, who had a horrible accident a while back when he was robbed in his home and brutally assaulted which left him in a really bad shape. You might have seen the charity effort "Goblin Aid" that was around the Internet last year, where many different mini sculptors made all sorts of goblins that was sold and the profit went to Kev to help pay his medical bills. I managed to get some of the goblins before the campaign ended earlier this year.

Hmmmm... I didn't even notice the similarity until you mentioned it. Those shapes appear throughout history. I remember when I was working on my Philip the 2nd figure. I based the shield on what they actually found in a historical tomb, but notice the repeating pattern. It's not quite as obvious since they are all connected but that shape is still there.

Yeah, those symbols have been used since for ever. Hell, they have even dug up iron age stuff with svastikas on it.

you have to be there though for the yearly speedpaint competition. hope they have one.
