It'll be hard to draw you both without knowing what either of you look like, but I'll see what I can do. :)

a few random things:

I did a little 'speed sculpt' exercise last night: thirty minutes to try to practice smoothness. It wasn't designed to come to anything, but I figured what is the ultimate in smoothness? A cartoon character. So I did a head for a cartoon zombie:

I'm quite pleased with how smooth he came out, and learned a couple of useful things.

I then did smooth arms on my little figure, and started roughing out a head for him:

And then finished up the bits of clothing on my flesh faire duo, and primed ready for paint. I'm looking forward to getting some paint out!

Harec: thanks for the tip, I'll give that a try.

So in honour of reaching 800 posts I have Digga and Arch with cattle prods. Forgive me for thinking of you both as an evil panda and a crazy old man respectively.

That is just rocking! "Panda" has been the only nickname I've ever had that's stuck so it is greatly appropriate. And possibly substituting "crazy" for "evil" would work better. You know....for future reference. :)

Please PM me the original scan when you get a moment.

Are you preferring the Sculpey to the Fimo? Which version of Sculpey are you using as there seem to be various options.

Lmao, well you got the crazy and man part down but I'm only 35 but just so you know I aspire to look that badass some day. Great drawings and love the smooth exercise. Everything is coming out great just don't know where you find the time for it all.

35? Same age as me - a good age to be. I figured you were older, must've been all that wisdom and senility...

I'm an insomniac, so always have time on my hands when everyone else is asleep.

I also dabble in the sleepless arts here and there. It makes me seem very efficient as i have learned not to fight it so when i get a bout i do lots of laundry and grocery shopping at weird hours and generally get tons of hobby done too.

Some times I wish I had more insomnia spells but for what ever reason, my body says hey it's 1100 you know what that means. Next thing I know it's Monday morning :(

Also 35 - clearly a good vintage. :)

I would post a pic of myself, but wouldn't want to scare you all away! I enjoy you too much.

Fortunately I don't suffer from insomnia. But I am a natural night owl and am usually up until at least 2am most evenings. So I get time to do stuff while others sleep.

Oh men, and then I'm here who needs 14 to 18 hours sleep a day (and even then I have no energy).

count yourselves lucky with some much awake time to spend.

Goodnight,

Gino(2dope)

My pleasure Tero.

Right, very early stages, but here's some basecoat a and a first pass at the faces. Still lots of neatening to do.

Arch, I'm using super sculpey firm. So far I'm liking it, but I might go back to Fimo to remind myself of the difference.

First pass looks good - I'm sure it's fun to bring your sculpts to life with paint.

Thanks. I can get Sculpey here, but it's a bit of a mission so I'll stick with my current batches of Fimo and Filani (the local stuff). Another question, if I may: do you seal your sculpts before priming them?

I have been working with Chevant clay hard/medium and GS and sculpey, and now Fimo. Chevant clay has been my favorite sculpey becomes a bit to crumbly in my opinion. GS is to sticky, but Fimo I am really having fun with (though it is a lot like sculpey just feels less crumbly to me.
