A WIP Thread by Fluisterwoud

Your brain always reads what you want to read, not what is written on the paper.... that's why sometimes is a good idea to offer the text to other people not related with the project to have a peek on it.
It happens all the time! I once wrote on a catalogue the year 2041 instead of the year 2014 and none of 5! people saw it until it was printed xD

Ah, 2041, that was a good year.

Been pretty quite here but it's not because I'm not painting. The rules for this years Golden Vincis are out, though not the English version, and it appears that you're not even allowed to show WIP photos of your entries! I have two pieces that I want to enter and am currently working on both. I'm still working on the Ren bust, I've done a little more to it but not enough to warrant new pics and I've also started working on another Dark Vengeance marine, so I can show that one. This is where it's at after one painting session:

Looking good, I like green armor!

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't entered this contest before, but I'd like to this time around. As for the WIP pictures, I'm almost positive that they are allowed. I'm looking at their post using Chrome to translate and here's what it came up with " Furthermore, may not have been previously published on the Internet images of the finished article at delivery. This applies no WIP photos. " I would guess that's a mis-translation and should be more along the lines of "This doesn't apply to WIP photos." Probably in part because the translate tool doesn't know what to do with "WIP." If you look at the original sentence "Das betrifft keine WIP Fotos," it's the same as what they had in last years rules. Meanwhile, last year this was their English version of the rules "There has to be no pictures of your miniature on the internet, the day you enter the competition. Work in progress stuff excluded."

It's not too tough. The main rules are:
1) You must be a follower of their blog. The easiest way to do this is to go to their site, scroll down until you see "Follow by Email" on the right side of the page. Enter your email address and you should be all set.
2) You can't show the images of the finished figure online until after you have entered. So don't post the finished photos until you've gotten confirmation from them that your entry has been accepted. I'm fairly certain it's okay to show WIP though.
3) You can only have one entry per category.

Categories are
1) Single Miniature - single figure up to 32mm scale. On foot or mounted on a horse or similar size animal. (Figures on dragons and other large beasts go in the next category)
2) Monster - pretty much what you'd expect
3) Large Figures/Busts - Miniatures larger than 32mm, also includes busts
4) Vehicles
5) Open - anything that doesn't fit in the other categories (dioramas, units, etc)

Deadline for submission is Oct 1, 2016

To enter, you need to email them at least 3 pictures of the figure from different angles (max of 5 pictures). The total size of the pictures should not be greater than 1.5 MB. The email should be sent to competition[at]dievincis.de and must include your name and the category you're entering. Each entry should be a separate email and the subject line should be "Golden Vinci 2016 (category)"... so Golden Vinci 2016 Open or Golden Vinci 2016 Large - Busts.

I didn't think to check the translation against previous year's rules. Hopefully that is just a bad translation by Google, but just in case I won't show any WIP until the English rules are officially out.

BAM, beyond what Bailey said, towards the bottom of the rules page you'll see an image that says "Golden Vinici 2016" with a large blank space. Print that off and write your name on it, you have to take a picture of each of your entries with that piece of paper. Then you can take normal photos of your entries. Then email all those photos to their email and you're done. Though I'm not sure if you send an email for each entry or all at once.

Ah yes, I forgot that part. Thanks!

Last years rules wanted a separate email for each one. I'm guessing it's the same this year, but I can't say for sure. Probably won't matter for me, but the way BAM paints I'm guessing he'll have something for every category! :)

The shading and highlighting of the green armor parts are pretty much done. Next up is the trim, going for a NMM copper. After that it will be time to add some battle damage.

Hey, thanks all! I just got back from vacation so no real update here. I haven't touched the marine since the last post, but I should be getting back at it this week. Before leaving I did do some work on one of my Golden Vinci pieces, it's the old metal lord of Slaanesh mounted on the boob dragon thing. I used the Malefic Flesh set from Nocturna Models/Vallejo on the dragon and really liked how they worked out, would definitely recommend them.

Seems like I haven't been here in forever. You know how it is, come home from a long vacation right at the start of the Steam summer sale, things get a little packed with jam. I finally got back to painting, it's not much but it's something. I did the metal trim on the powerfist. Pay no attention to the highlights on the shoulder pad, those will probably all be covered up anyway.
