Sadly no, I didn't really have time to take any class. Had I taken his class the face may be 10x better! Next year though, I'll take as many classes as I possibly can!

Ha, wow, just looked at my gallery and noticed someone sniped every single one of my pieces. Everything is lower than last night with only 1 or 2 extra votes. I don't understand people sometimes.

Thx for sharing the colors Fluisterwoud, the vibrance in that red is stunning!! Looking forward to watching this piece develop.

About the snipers: I'm still new here and from what I understand from it it's just smallminded individuals downvoting out of jealousy, so even though it sucks to have to deal with, don't take it too hard. It means you're doing well enough to make people jealous, which isn't for everyone!

Yeah snipers are losers, nothing you can do about them. Thankfully their votes get thrown away at midnight. Anyway I worked on the gold pieces today, here's where our buccaneer friend stands now:

Ooo! Lovely! Nice deep reds. I especially like the like the work on the leathers, and the boots so far. The one large belt across his chest maybe has a bit too much damage/weathering for me though.

Thanks guys, I started the freehand on the shirt, just the one sleeve so far. And because of taking photos, I noticed when basing the hair some of it bled onto the face, so that's been fixed. Things like that show why you should take many many photos during the painting process, always catches the mistakes. Also I painted up his hat:

I was thinking the same thing, but it looks better now that the rest of the leather has been done.

On the leather: I figured this guy, being a pirate at sea and all, doesn't have the proper soaps/cleaners for leather to keep them in tip-top shape. So of all his clothing, the leather would have the most wear and tear and look beat up.

I couldn't really think of a pattern for the main part of the shirt, it's not a lot of area and there are so many folds it was hard to come up with something. Looking at the box art, they just went with a bunch of squiggles and made the freehand focus the cape. I decided I would focus on the cape as well and just did some fleurs-de-lis (I had to look up how to pluralize that) and called it a day.

lol In all all honesty I was staring at the mini for about 2 hours trying to figure out a pattern to paint on the shirt and nothing would come to me. So the fleurs-de-lis kind of felt like taking the easy way out.
