    Opinions on washing

I painted some Reaper ghouls last night. Basecoated them in VGC Dead flesh and then mixed 2:1 Dead flesh:Black as shade with a drop of flow improver and future floor wax with 3 drops of H20. The effect came out crackly, and the shade didn\'t seem to dry effectively. Some of it dried on the...

    Brush cleaning

I\'m on the verge of buying some W&N Series 7 brushes, but my technique for cleaning my current brushes still leaves me with hook tips. I use a Loew Cornell brush cleaner and water to get the paint out. Any suggestions or method changes? Thanks.

    Anybody use sculpty sculpt?

This ceramic/clay material, scultpty, comes in a green box, seems more workable than greensuff, although you need to put it in the over for 15 min in order for it to harden. Works great for bases though. Just wondering if anyone else has used it.

    pinning experience

Does anyone have experience with cutting off the round bases that usually come with the Reaper Dark Legends mini line, to put them on the Rackham-like bases? I\'m trying to figure out how to pin a finished mini in that style. Also if there are any sites that have good pinning insturctions...

    Layering Idea

I had an idea to make my layering smoother and wanted to bounce it around this forum: What about layering using glaze-like thinned paint. (10:1) ratio as your layers vs. the conventional 5:1? Has anyone tried this, is it a valid idea or just a waste of my time. Thanks.

    A question of talent

Do you think people level off in this hobby, i.e. they reach a certain level of quality and cannot go above it. Can we all paint figures as well as they do in the Rackham catalog? Just curious....

    the best basing material?

I heard using Plaster a paris is one way to sculpt bases, but I\'ve not personally tried it. I have tried Green stuff, which was difficult to use. (I tried sculpting a cobblestone base.) Any tips on which material, or one that I did not mention, works best? :bouncy:

    Painting Evolution

For the more experienced painters out there: Does it get to a point where you stop using certain techniques, i.e. do you stop layering for wet-blending, or is most every technique useable in some form or another. Just another one of my random questions.

    VGC consistency

I\'ve noticed in other posts that the VGC line does not need as much thinning for layering and blending as does VMC. If this is true, how thin does it need to be for these techniques? 1:2, 1:3, 1:4? Just curious. Thanks. :|~
