I agree with SkelettetS about the Heavy Bolter Guy and He does need to be moved to the right as we look at the picture.
Remember the conversation we had at Euro about the Dragon Battle and the Third Figure not being "Engaged" in that scenario, similar thing here.
Leaving the Heavy Bolter at the left and facing across the others who are all facing forward breaks the visual scan of the set.
Place him at the other side and he's seen something that the others haven't while they are all looking forward.

Also I'm wondering about who else is going into the squad, because so far you've One Dynamic Figure and Two Static poses.
For the Comp I think you need visual balance, having Strackern as the Charging Pyscho-Bunny while the rest are standing still would work if you called it something like, "Crud he's off again!" but I think you need to imply movement to the whole unit.
Even a static figure could imply movement, if you took the Catachan Guardsman who has his Lasgun to his shoulder and added a fine small section of Guitar wire to the business end of the barrel you could paint that as a Las shot and that would Imply Dynamics.

Now having roughly marked out this picture I'm going to point out something, you've gone from a warm Yellow-Green foliage to a cold Blue Green foliage without a smooth or part way transition and it spoils the flow of the base, especially with the draped Yellow Green bit I've flagged.
The Blue-Green either needs a transition to it or re-working to match the rest.
Also try a couple of Warm Spot colours, for example an Orange/Orange Brown or Red lizard or snake visible in the foreground or Red Cap Toadstools, just a little something to break the eye and help the visual flow of the group.

Thanks all :)

Skel / Dragon - Yep the big gun will have to be on the other side.
Mike your smack on about the motion of the minis, its been a problem right from the start as the Stracken is the only one really 'moving'.
The darker green leaves are unpainted, just the green card of the laser cut paper. Im starting to paint them now but totally agree about adding some colours to break the greens.

Nearly finished the flame thrower guy.

You could also turn the heavy bolter guy (shall we call him HBG, from now on? :giggle: ) so that he faces and fires forward, instead of sideways. You could do that even if you place him on the other side.

The groundwork looks great!

I'm not sure about the smoke coming out of the flamer, though. It looks too much like what it really is.

On the flamer can I suggest adding some yellow and purple to the heat bloom of the end. If you look at a motorbike exhaust it's purple closest to the heat source then blue and finally yellow before going to normal metal colour.
Then you may need some soot from the flame.

Flame thrower guy looks great. I agree about the heat discolouring on the cowling of the flamer and since you are a master of glazing that shouldn't take long. As to the added colour of the leaves, maybe a little like poison ivy just as it's turning that reddish brown?

Since everyone is nit-picking I thought I would pile on with my friendly internet critique.

1. I think the two circled leaves are too similar. To me the angle, size, and shape of the leaves are so similar it looks fake to me. The other leaves look fantastic, those two bug me. :)

2. In the photos the black around the edge of the slotta bases looks a little sloppy in some spots. It looks like the black crawls up onto the horizontal part of the base where it does not belong. I don't know if judges will see that or what but I hear GD UK is pretty tough.

BTW that plinth or whatever you call it, is really nice. The base REALLY looks like it's vegetation that has grown out this box and the horizontal groove is at the top is very classy. Did you make that?

(edit:) Flamer guy needs something on the front of his t-shirt. Maybe a freehand BBQ add? Smokey the bear? Or maybe an Aguila?

The heat bloom on the flamer looks great mate! The base just keeps getting better and better.
