I think the colours are fine... At a guess I'd say it looks like robes are faded with that nice freehand and lighter patches over the knees, but the pipes and metals are spanky new. So maybe crispen up the robes or weather the other bits to match? Just a thought.

The other day I had an idea to try some extreme OSL, the only problem is that the inspiration and subject of my idea doesn't exist in model/bust form so I would have to sculpt it myself. As you all know, I'm not a sculptor, but I gave it a try any way:

Thanks guys, a lot of the proportions are off and it's not as accurately detailed as I want it but it will work for now. Maybe in a few years, with some more practice, I can sculpt it again. Anyway I started the painting:

Thanks, it's proving difficult to get the light just right over black. In the scene (Poe's interrogation) there is red and blue light coming from all over the place, and a few hints of green and white light too. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of trial and error to get this right.

In other news, I put the BA Sanguinary Priest in my gallery: http://www.coolminiornot.com/397263

Still working on Ren but I started another project, this one will have tons of freehand patterns because he's a fancy French pirate from the 17th century, all about the filigree patterns on their clothes:

That contrast in the red on the backside of the pants looks amazing, care to share which colors you used for it? :)

Thx in advance!

Looking forward to seeing all the freehands!!

Thanks guys. Corax, I used Deep Red and Pure Black from Reaper Master Series and Vallejo Model Color Red (in Spanish it says Bermellon which translates to vermilion if that helps). Here is where the model stands now:

Historical is way out of my comfort zone!! I admire you taking on this project.
oh there is LOTS of leeway in historical. vikings, ninjas, I even got Attila the Hun from scale 75 because record of his appearance are sketchy at best.
